Zack Akai PSU is one of the few parts that can pretty consistently go from build to build until it's shot. And they do degrade with time. Buying one with more power than you need will allow you to use it for more builds. And is cheaper in the long run.
@zackakai51735 жыл бұрын
@@Docosi sure, but realistically you're unlikely to ever need anything approaching 1000w. Most people are never going to come close to touching that. I've got a 750w in my rig, and even with the big upgrade I'm planning within the year (more powerful GPU, CPU, more RAM, new case with more fans, etc), that still seems like a lot more than I really need. Unless he was coming from a rig with multiple high-end GPUs, and given the specs of this rig I think it's safe to say he wasn't. Just looking at his cable management alone, I think we can safely assume that what's really going on is he was a noob at PC building who made a fairly common error that a lot of new PC builders make, which is getting a way bigger PSU than you're ever going to need.
@V8Power53005 жыл бұрын
I’ve got a 750w pjs and it’s actually limiting my upgrade. I have a Xeon 1650 v2 that draws about 170w + a heavily overclocked r9 290x. I wanted to add a second gpu, but I’m limited there. (290x is cheap, I can get them with a full cover block for about 80-90 euro
@zackakai51735 жыл бұрын
@@V8Power5300 sure, but you're talking about a dual GPU setup with fairly beefy GPUs and a relatively high-draw CPU. In that situation a larger PSU is warranted. My point was that 1000w is WAY overkill for the kind of specs this guy was running.

I sold you that MSI 4gb 760 for $60 back when the mining craze was jacking them up to $120-150 on eBay. Knowing that $60 then was the actual value. There are 2gb models, and anyone contemplating playing any games made in the last 2 years or newer should avoid those at all costs. They're decent budget cards for light gaming on older titles, but 2gb cards are basically obsolete already.

Used PCs go down in value like crazy and never go up like a classic car would, unless it has a part which is so rare and niche and sought after that prices do go up in value after a while, but such a scenario is unlikely in our day and age.
