Firstly: great respect. I am a relative beginner but I keep picking up the harmonica every time I come back to this piece that you mastered so well. My question please - what brand and model of harmonica are you playing? I have a Hohner Blues Harp and although I have mastered bends, I simply cannot hit that first -3*/-3** exactly like you do! Maybe it is just wishful thinking that it is the harmonica and not me! Appreciate your comments.

Thanks so much. I used a Suzuki Promaster MR 350. It had valves in it which I didn't get on with so I removed them and also an aluminium comb which wasn't to my taste. It wasn't a bad harp but I only bought one of them. The Hohner Blues harp is ok but the harps I have bought the most of are, in order of best out of the box are 1. The *Suzuki Harpmaster* great tone and probably the best set up for easy playing at an affordable price. 2 *The Hohner Special 20.* Not far behind the Harpmasters. Most harps are to some extent a bit of a lottery as to playing ease, as it depends how well the reeds have been set up. So I could buy make of harp in the key of C for instance, then buy an identical one only to find that one plays better than the other which is a bit frustrating. In due course it is worth learning how to tweak the gaps on the reeds to suit your playing style and make them play easier. The problem with getting the -3*/-3** smooth is possibly due to how your harp reeds are set up particularly if the harp is too airy and needs more breath power than you should need to use. The problem is I can't guarantee any harp apart from buying a customised one that is going to let you know whether it is the shortcomings of the harp or more work is needed on practicing bends! Good luck

That is some great blues. From what blues I have played and I assume you do the same do you play it different each time you play? When I play I have no particular pattern to play just what ever the feeling comes over me that goes with the cords. Is yours that way? Good Job!

Hey, thanks for sharing that......I remember hearing Nina Simone as a kid. My Dad was a fan. That backing track definitely does NOT sound like Karaoke. Where did you find it? Better yet, where can I find it? Boy, I've been working on that ulliean pipe technique you shared with me. Neat. Alot harder ( for me at least ) on the inhale. But worth the effort! Thanks again.
@GreyOwl-Harmonica9 жыл бұрын
steel1953 Thanks man! Can't remember where the source of the backing track is though. Pleased the Uillean Pipe technique is working well for you. Thanks for your support.
