You are MY kind of griddling guy. I'm 74...had a Blue Rhino for about 3 years...gave it to my friend and bought a Blackstone 36" this weekend. Your cooks are practical, everyday type stuff that a backyard jack like me can understand and duplicate. PLUS you usually give the temps in numbers, not hi, med, and low. And another thing...even if I didn't cook, I would watch because you're entertaining. I like the way you get after "Steve".

what did you dislike about the blue rhino? considering getting one and would you recommend the blackstone over it?
@earesponsible Жыл бұрын
@@johnnyb6008 I liked the Blue Rhino - had it a long time. Our neighbors came over to eat pretty often and they liked it, too. I gave it to the guy on his birthday. There is no dealer around here - I bought mine used - so I bought the Blackstone. I got it at Walmart on sale...36" with a removable cover. I liked the B R and my neighbors use theirs 2 to 3 times a week. I don't think you'll be disappointed with it.

O-H Brian! Ya it might be a little small for 5 but I would see how the summer goes and if you love it then start dropping hints around Christmas for a bigger one 😂. Also I would utilize your oven and those foil pans in the baking isle of Kroger. For example if I was doing breakfast on the 22 for 5 people I would. Set my oven to 175-190 to use as a warmer Cook the bacon first then hold it in the oven in a foil pan 2nd potato or do them with bacon if you can fit it, and put those in the oven as well. Then pancakes ------in oven And eggs last. And pull everything out when the eggs Are done. I hope that helps and congratulations on the new griddle my friend.

The griddle is pretty legit for meal preps. I do this a lot for grilling my bone/skin-less chicken thighs and veggies. Love the channel Johnny...always entertaining and useful. Your philly/chopped cheese vid had me making a mean philly on pretzel buns which was pure umami.
@JohnnyBrunet2 жыл бұрын
Chicken thighs and veggies is a great idea. I love those bone in ones because you can usually get a great deal on them. Well at least I can at the Aldi near me. That philly on a pretzel bun sounds great! I'm a huge fan of pretzel buns I've only used them once in a video and that was for a short when I was experimenting with those. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for commenting on Victors comment. It's good to get multiple opinions but I am conciousley trying to put more of my personality and more jokes in because I did stand up comedy for 6 years as a hobby. So I really appreciate the feedback and I know it's not for everyone but like you said I don't want to keep doing the same as everyone else, (here's the ingrediants, here's me cooking them, here's the finished product. Did you do ground beef on the pretzel bun or did you buy a steak and shave it?
@EXccord2 жыл бұрын
@@JohnnyBrunet Bone ins definitely can be cheap. Wish we had an Aldi's in CO but the closest to that would be Trader Joes. Use to be a big chicken breast guy but for some reason I felt inclined to go for thighs and its probably the tastiest choice of protein when it comes to these. The pretzel bun philly was divine, thats as easy as I can explain that one haha. My pleasure though....id rather take the comedy and cooking instead of the typical cooking channel. Glad KZbin's algorithm had me stumble on your channel as I doubt I would have found it.

Your life is about to change lol. Got my first griddle as well on my portable/foldable camp chef (its a three burner but the griddle is a separate "accessory") and so far have had really good luck with cooking veggies, chicken thighs, and whatnot. Use the space you can but practice on it because your griddle top has its hot zones and "cooler" zones. Learn your "rig" and youll be able to make full use out of it. Cook veggies last and your proteins first.
@JohnnyBrunet2 жыл бұрын
Congrat on the new griddle! Ya I have a 22 inch and I need to do some videos on that to give tips. I would agree with what SF said you need to watch you cooking order with all griddles but especially with a small one because you are going to have to take some items off to get other items on. Def meat and potatoes first then veggies last. Also something like potatoes can hold in your oven without really drying out. Not many people use it but you can get most oven down around 180 degrees and use them as a holding unit. So for example if I were to do steak, redskin potatoes and asparagus on a small griddle here's how I would do it. 1.Cook the diced redskins first until they are crispy and golden brown the put them in a pan in the oven covered with foil around 180 degrees 2.Crank the griddle up to sear/cook the steak then once the internal temp was where I wanted for Rare, Med Rare, Medium or however you like it I would pull it off and let it rest. 3.As the steak is resting I would turn the griddle back to meeting and cook the asparagus it only take a few minutes they cook up fast. Same thing with breakfast do you potatoes and bacon.sausage then throw those in the oven while you do the pancakes and eggs. Also if you don't want to use the oven get the foil baking pans from the baking isle of you grocery store and use those to hold stuff hot because it will retain the heat better. I hope this was helpful thanks so much for watching.

Hey Johnny, I think this video is a HIT. Some great ideas with the meal prep cooks. I really like the Egg Roll in a Bowl and my wife already makes the Taco Braid ( Good Stuff ). I also really like your sense of humor. I think you and I would be able to share an Odoules Lite, LOL. Just kidding, I dont share my Odoules Light, ha ha. Keep up the good work and GRIDDLE ON DUDE. P.S. When are those shirts going to be ready for purchase???

Ingredients: 2.5 lbs sirloin steak. I sliced it thin like beef jerky and then re-sliced - so that each piece is approximately 3/4" by 1/8" by 1/8". 1 yellow onion chopped 1 red or green bell pepper 1 - 28oz can of Regular Crushed Tomatoes 2 - 4oz can of green chilies, not drained 2 - 12oz bottles Guinness (or 1 large bottle 2 - 15oz cans of Black Beans, drained 1/4 cup olive oil 1/4 cup chili powder 3 tbsp brown sugar 3 tsp cinnamon 1 1/2 tsp cumin 1 tsp minced garlic 1 tsp ground oregano leaves 1 tsp salt 1 tsp paprika 2 tsp black pepper 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (1/2 tsp for Spicy) Method: Brown the meat with the onions and garlic in a Dutch oven on the stove, stirring often to keep the onions and garlic from burning. If it starts to stick, add more oil. Add the rest of the ingredients until well mixed. Bring to a boil and then let simmer for at least 3 hours. We usually skip the simmer stage and put the pot in the oven at 250 degrees for about 3 4o 4 hours.

Hello from Canada Johnny! Have been traveling around this early summer, always referencing your videos on my travels. You know when you are in that well kitted-out garage with a buddy who has that flat-screen connected up to KZbin, wireless implements, speakers and a beer fridge? That's been my travels. Anyhow, after watching all your vids (feels like watching Bob Ross man, and that is a compliment shared by many of my travel friends..) I only have one question: Why in God's name has someone like you never (it seems) invested in a vacuum sealer? ? Legit fan, Legit Question. (P.S: I am 41 years old, and after having grown up with the internet, this is legitimately the very first comment I have ever left on KZbin. Power)
@JohnnyBrunet2 жыл бұрын
Hey Christian first off thanks so much for the kind words I really appreciate it. Those garage travls sound like an absolute blast. Nothing is better than drinking with a buddy and casually watching some videos or tv. Thank you so much for showing my videos to your friends that is very nice of you man. As for the Bob Ross compliment, thank you so much. I have gotten that before and I do not take it lightly because he in my mind was an amazing human being who is worth striving to be like. And I have tried to model aspects of my channel and my over all approach after him and his constant positivety. He just had a polite way of explaining things without being pretentious or condescending about his knowlege and skill, and I admired that. As for the vaccum sealer it is on a very very short list of cooking accessories that I would like to have (with a pellet grill and pizza oven). I think the main reason is that my wife, son, and I live in a 800 sq foot condo with a very tiny fridge and freezer. When we move I will probably buy a chest freezer hopefully to put in a garage that is decked out very similar to the ones you were describing. And then I will be able to vaccum seal tons of fried rice and seard meats to pull out and finish in the oven on a lazy weeknight. Also you had me cracking up about this being your first comment because that is totally me man. I'm 37 and I comment back on every comment on my videos because I feel its ther right thing to do since people have taken time out of there day to watch what I created. However I have never openly commented on another video just for the heck of it. And I watch some real nerdy comic book stuff which I have very strong opinions on but I still resist the erge to comment because it just isn't me. So thank you so much for watching and thank you so much for commenting it really means a lot. I wish you save travels and drink a bunch of garage beers for me my friend.
