The stages of Grief issues I think are some of the strongest issues ever written. And Pat Gleason and Mick Gray’s art brings it to life in such unforgiving detail. The expressions are heartbreaking. The melancholy pervades every panel. And the scene where Batman says he’s sorry for not seeing the depth of Alfred’s pain-for not seeing that he wasn’t the only one who lost a son-gets me every fucking time. Alfred’s pain is so real.

I love how the death of Jason Todd was supposed to be a JOKE. DC left readers on a cliffhanger on the issue prior, asking them to vote on who they should kill off--Jason Todd or the Joker. People wrote in voting to kill off Jason, not expecting DC to actually do it. But they did, and it actually helped turn Batman into a more tragic hero (as opposed to the goofy Adam West version).

Not sure how to feel about everyone else dealing with the death but 😅 it is good focusing on showing human emotions and how the bat family would go about it. Batman:I want to use the resources around me to bring my son back. Everyone else: just because you can bring someone back doesn't mean you should....it always means you shouldn't tho.
