DSL's are extremely underrated. Tons of gain. I think people just overlook them because they're looking for/expecting that typical Marshall crunch, which admittedly they don't do quite so well, as well as the elephant in the room- They don't exactly cost an arm and a leg.

Super informative!! Having used these before, it seems simple enough, but it’s always helpful to have an expert visual guide.

so i'm 45 and have been chasing tone for years. And I'm cheap, that's why I've waited so long to finally get the Grind, and this video was the tipping point. I am the only person (that I know) that will be putting this in front of a Marshall 8100 valvestate which doesn't have a lot of flubby low end, so I know this pedal might not work out, but I've got my fingers crossed. wish me luck

@@x9uij3rWD come check it out on my channel. It sounds great, but does take a bit of post-eqing. Check out any of my videos that are titled "how they should have sounded" and you'll get a good feel for it. I'm really happy with it

Now I'm wondering if you have a 3 channel recto and you are using the amp footswitch if the grind switching will override the footswitch if you have the grind plugged into one of the external switching jacks. Say you wanted to engage the grind and have it switch to channel 2 or something.

More pedals need the chanel swith added like this. I always run a boost for my dirty channel and hitting two pedals sucks.

To my ears, the Marshall sounded better than the Mesa. Surprisingly better. The Mesa sounded muddy

They should try it with an ENGL.. it would sound killer

I thought the mic placement sounded a bit too dark on both amps.

I have the grind for my randall divalo 20 watt with matching 1x12. I just got back my Wylde odin grail with 81 emg in the bridge and I'm getting a lot of unnecessary noise. What could help?

What’s your opinion on the lead sounds with the grind on the DSL specifically in standard E? I’m thinking it might make it too thin and brittle sounding, but great for the low chugging
@SluggerStark4 жыл бұрын
It definitely could, from my experience. The Fortin pedals IMO opinion are the best at tightening up the gain of pretty well any amp....out of a Marshall, you get this angry, tight, in your face tone that never mushes out. The tradeoff with doing this is that depending on the player, you may not dig the feel....it is definitely stiffer with less give, overall.
