I think one reason you didn't get as many taps and messages for your face is because you're not smiling. You're handsome either way, but a smile always helps. And also, it would have been interesting to see the difference if you added a third option: face with body. That's what I use as my main pic and it definitely works better than one or the other. Also, Grindr allows you to put up to 5 pics now and I think you'd also get more messages when you have several pics since just the one pic might be a good angle while showing several pics in different situations is less likely to be hiding too much.

When I tried Grindr for the first time (It was about a month before I deleted it, same guys on all of the time.) I posted a face picture and was constantly asked for a body picture and vice versa, so... 1 of each is best. You should also mention that taps come fast for the first few days and falls off fast as you are new meat. I enjoy your channel, just reliving parts of my past, lol... bathouse etc.

I think you might want to revisit this experiment with a third option, a friendly smiling expression vs. the stern one. I'm certain the results would be different and expect a massively higher response to a smiling face than a sober one.

Ok Patrick. I’ve got to be honest. One of the things I look for on Grindr is a cute smiling face. Not Heath Ledger as the Joker “Why so serious?!!” You’ve got a great smile and cute face, but I would have skipped over you In Grindr with that particular face pic in your test. Sexy is supposed to be fun and enjoyable. Now, I would have done more than tap on your hot body profile pic! Keep up the great educational videos. A lot of newbie gay guys like me out there.

Nah when I see a hot torso I think a the guy has a hot face. If he doesn't I sorta lose attraction. OK body and handsome face is better than plain face and nice body. So many guys ask for face pics or demand them. It makes or breaks attraction. If u have a hot body but ok face and only show body, u will still have people be more interested if u don't show face. A real nice face gets way more attention. U just have to have one to see the benefits.

It's definitely easy to believe you were not familiar with using Grindr - I was shaking my head in disbelief at your "theory" :) Even though I've used Grindr for years, it's can be pretty demoralizing and rough on the self-esteem if you don't look like a fitness model (or the perfect expression of particular fetishes). I think you overlooked one of the primary reasons for the blank profile pic - control. Unfortunately, a large element of Grindr is about ignoring or blocking people, so to avoid that hassle some go with the blank profile to "shop anonymously", not because they're sneaking around or in the closet but because they want to browse in peace. And let's be honest - a lot of us go with the face pic because we don't have a body like yours.

So of course they’ll respond to a body - then send their face expecting same in return. I mean - there’s no gym for the face !!!! So maybe you got more open possibilities than anticipated ?

It goes D, body, face. In that order. I learned a valuable lesson early in life. An old guy used to hang out in gay hotels in Ft Lauderdale. He was elderly and looked ravaged by disease. It was a hideous sight. He’d hang around the pools in a thong (zero butt) with a GIANT knee-level wang. All day these guys would come by and take him around somewhere and “get some”. Here's an idea. Do the experiment again, but instead of body and face, do your face with and without the beard. If possible just erase the beard with your computer. If you can't do that , it will grow back in a short time. Oh, and you should smile this time too.

I automatically assume a guy with a hot body has a hot face. But there really isn't a correlation. Body by itself may make u initially attracted, but your face will make or break attraction.

You should try the experiment again, but also include an anon control. I've discovered that sometimes I get more messages before I upload any pictures. You're not giving guys any way to make judgements (in the most negative sense of the word) about you before contacting you that way. Pictures can work against you because even if they're good, guys may think they're too good and you're probably stuck up and won't bother responding. Or maybe they're good but the light really makes that odd mole stand out... who knows?

You can find a bf on grindr. It’s just not common. I probably would suggest taking the relationship slower. My ex and I met on the app and it didn’t go well but I think it was mostly because he was looking for sex not a relationship. I think the biggest take away is people have to know what they want even on Grindr.

So I know this was 6 months ago, but something that stood out to me was you're saying the median age. However, that's not the median age. You got the average age. I'm not trying to split hairs but the median age would be the middle person in the list of all the ages. And if they were two people in the middle, because you have an even number, you would add those ages and divide by 2. And that would be the median age. Again, I'm not trying to split hairs, I guess I'm just trying to educate you. I did like the experiment. I wonder if you had smiled in your profile picture if it would have made a difference. I was also interested in explicit pictures. Like did more people send explicit pictures In the first message with a face profile or the body shop? Lastly, it would have been interesting if you had done the same profile but no picture at all. I know this wasn't really a scientific experiment as far as controls and everything, but it would be interesting, and I may do one, to see the differences. The problem with me doing it is I live in a small town and too many people know me with my face and my partner of 11 years. I love you videos and good work on all of them. I watched bathroom cruising yesterday, and although I never did it, I wanted to.

old vid but omg I wish I'd seen this earlier! I met my fiance on Grindr believe it or not (thats another discussion). When I was on (hope I don't come off like a douche) I had a complete blast lol, Grindr was heaven to me for hot masc jocks. The reason being is I'm a pretty boy (dark complected), naturally smooth, very masculine (former military), 6 -8 pack chisled abs, nice pecs and biceps, It also helps I have a nice white smile. For me I would post a very clear shirtless torso pic with my face and a pic rocking my ball cap backwards and a second capless. I did put my height,weight, and body fat % lol. I would demand a clear face pic (I had one) and I insisted on no nudes or d**k pics and to stay in your lane (be masc, fit or slim, and have good hygiene). I posted that because that was me. Yes I would get some hate and called douche multiple times but my notification alerts would be almost non stop. When we'd link up guys would always say omg you are so sweet/cool and you're nothing like I thought you'd be. I did that to filter through the multiple messages tbh. I met lots of absolutely amazing guys and friends on grindr. The secret is yes you have to be a California 10 (very attractive) to get the hot 20-35 y/o's (like me). I had countless anonymous straight jocks message me for makeouts or to try "sex" in either position to see if they were gay or curious. They said since I'm masc and good looking it's ok to try (smh). So yeah to those reading to be successful on grindr yes you better be good looking face and bod. I'm average fwiw down there and never showed it or asked to see theirs. I'm homoromantic asexual so idc much abt oral or anal although I've pitched and received and same with oral just not my thing. I could care absolutely less abt a guys package.
