I was passing there a long time ago but never visited it when I was traveling in London because SOHO is the famous red light district in London .I am so happy you have meet a cute South African guy there , I'm South African as well and yes we have some very cute guys ,i hope you enjoyed each other company . I am so sorry this was not what you expected but i guess when its busy the staff are maybe different and there are more vibe in the place but from the sound of things it was a little disappointing. But people should try out things first to experience it for them self. Thank you again for this great video can not wait for the next one .

I’m a person that’s all about GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, (this person at the front desk is not only there because patrons are helping him make his wages, but he’s there to SET THE MOOD of fun, sex, excitement, etc..) if I had come with someone like you did I would’ve stuck it out (like you did), but if I were by myself I would’ve left before completing the admission transaction or asked for a refund. I haven’t been to a bathhouse since 2018 and the one I went to here in south Florida has the whole lockbox thing for small items such as wallets, keys, etc..to ensure that you give them their keys back at checkout, but if I ever go to ANY bathhouse again…I will give them the minimum of what’s needed and take my chances on my personal things locked in my car in the parking lot. Lol

I completely agree with your review, especially about the staff. They were not helpful with American tourist and just seemed like they didn't care. I went two nights and had a similar experience. As for the guys, the same thing that happened to you happened to me. Meeting a Londoner was not going to happen but I did have fun with guy from Spain and Canadian when I went there. The sham towel was fantastic.

that was an eastern style toilet (as opposed to western style) and that's common in the middle east but frequently used in Europe for those purposes.

The "rude" staff is largely cultural I would expect. Nothing you described is that unusual in London. They don't kiss your ass generally

I had my first gay experience at sweatbox. I'm an extremely nervous boy (took me 45 mins to get the balls to enter the place 😭) But when I did enter. I asked the guy there some questions and he answered all with a subtle smile on his face. He was pretty patient (and cute) White short bleached hair. He explained where to go and seemed to have patience. However, they really don't seem attentive when giving out locker belongings. Never had any problems with the staff and surprised myself with how much fun I had there. Side note. For those who are wondering, no one really talks when you're downstairs in my experience. It's mostly body language/eye contact. Lots of guys that night were not shy and groped me (I allowed it). Some even went further but that's not for here 😂 I will go back if I'm ever in london again

I've been there 3 times, two times I was also given somebody else's lockbox at the desk! I've heard Pleasuredrome is a bit higher end, planning to check that one out next time!

Based on your experience, 3 is fair. Customer service will make it break an impression of the place. The guys don’t sound too personable and that’s a no no if I’m going to spend money to check out the establishment. Good review 👍🏿

I have never been to Great Britain but I’ve been told that going into the Apple Store in the US is 180 degrees different from the Apple Store in GB, I was told that by nature, British are not into customer service and pleasantries by nature. The British wait staff are not going to faun all over you and cater to your whims. You walk in, flag someone down, tell them what you want, they provide it and take your money and shoo you out the door. So I’d expect that much from their Bathhouse staffs as well.

Since there are cultural differences among countries I wonder if that extends to bath houses as well and thats why the staff acted the way they did. Like different etiquette in different bath houses in other countries. I know some people may seem rude but it might be just a cultural thing. That being said I've never been to London so I don't know just how much the culture is different compared to Canada or the U.S. I also like the idea of a gym there. It would be fun to workout there.

No, Londoners are the most unfriendly in the world. Every mile north, ppl get warmer. I lived there for 6 years and had to adjust and I did like it, but I don't miss it one bit.

I watched your video with the hopes of doing my first night in a sauna (very likely in London) so thanks a lot for the information. Ĺondoners are generally really unfriendly to tourists, to foreign workers, to each other. There is just no warmth or spontaneity to them. Every mile north you go, the warmer ppl get. I lived there for 6 years and I'd swap it for Manchester in a heartbeat. I've been to Sweatbox 5 or 6 times over the years. I don't know why i go back to te same "don't give a shit" attitude from the staff but it is big and gets a good crowd usually. But honestly, Pleasuredrome by Waterloo Station is 10 times better. Newly renovated, secure, safe, friendly staff, the ambiance is more open and suits me better. Had my first DP there. Superfun. I recently sent a 73 year old friend there. I have detailed instructions to him and he was treated with respect and apparently had plenty of fun there too. Ya'all should give Sweatbox a miss when you're in London.

Visited and the staff member was lovely and really helpful. Agree with lots of other points. Liked also that you can come and go if you want to go out for a bit. Con was that there isn't a dry sauna. There is a small infrared but not great. The downstairs sex area was really cold and dank. The best part was the wet sauna.The action was inconsistent. Guys quite stand offish

I have experienced. Londoners ain't really a friendly bunch. The more North you go in the country the more friendly you get. I think you go to greenhouse in Darlington, it one of my fave saunas in uk

I'm a regular, since last year, so I've been a fair bit now. The staff are very variable. There's one guy in particular (with glasses) who's absolutely lovely. A couple of others are nice too. Unfortunately, the majority vary from outright rude, to cold fish, so odds are you were going to get one of the bad ones. Fortunately interactions with them are minimal (entry and exit). Unfortunately - as you found - they're also the last interaction you have with the place.

NYC has 2 but I’ve heard nothing but bad reviews about them. Super outdated, not clean etc. a good number of the clubs have back rooms for cruise fun time so I think most just go there. Wish there was one in nyc tho

This is one of the places I’ve been thinking about going to next time I’m staying over in London, but from other reviews it looks like the staff is a big issue there. Not surprised at it being slow on a Sunday though, as London tends to close down on Sunday nights.

Where do you live? In Europe you pay an entrance fee and use the rooms that are available. In America you pay for the use of a locker or room.

I think I know why the staff was rude. Because of all the bad stuff happening in the US for the last 10 years, UK/European gays and youth assume that all Americans are pretentious and have a huge sense of priviledge ("they act as though everything is owed to them"), so they HEAR and SEE everything with that filter, and then ANYTHING you do will be seen as bad. OOOOOOORRRR maybe they think conviviality is the highest expectation possible and nobody should expect it.

that lockbox thing is EGREGIOUS and should be signaled to the police or to a BBB equivalent. you're right about the rudeness related to the beer question, he could have answered with a different tone, BUT you are wrong about "you could still know where there is beer at midnight". Maybe they expect people to use their cell phones to find anything they want and asking questions should be the last resort.
