Sad update to report: He passed away on February 10th. He got his hug in from Nora the day before😢

that's sad, but i am happy he got a last hug in. (also, yes, i'm convinced his wife decided "you need to go out on a HAPPY note if your heart doesn't melt for this kiddo you aren't the dude i married" and helped arrange their first meeting and gave him a big hug and kiss when they met back up in heaven/valhalla/etc.)

She does deserve a lot of credit, but I do agree the Holy Spirit seems to have been working here. I met my “old person” at church when I was Nora’s age. Half the time, we couldn’t get through a sermon without him turning around, looking at me and popping his dentures out as a way to get me to laugh really loud. He’d arrive at church 30 minutes early, wait for me to finish helping my grandma clean up her Sunday school class, and we’d go set up for children’s church. We’d meet after church for lunch. He’d color on the kid’s menu with me. He helped me learn how to read really early on. Help me sound out really big words. Was sure to let me know that I was unstoppable. That I could do ANYTHING. I’m 25, and my “old person” is gone now. But I could never be sad, because he taught me so much. Certainly taught me that you can have a bit of fun in serious situations. He was the church jokester. At his memorial, they played a video of him popping out his dentures. Out of the 300 that attended, some giggled, but they were all looking at me. I was the one cracking up. That then lightened the mood, and everyone knew they could actually laugh. His wife looked back at me, mouthing a thank you. I didn’t realize that was a relief she needed in the moment.

@@frankieb9444 I cared for an elderly couple where everyone was expecting him to pass first; his wife was was spry and spunky, he was a bit in decline (still had months to years left though). He was a lovable guy, she came off a little standoffish, she had resting bi*ch face. Well, she had a heart attack one night and passed. It was hard for him. They had her funeral in short order, and he started getting all his affairs in order. 2 weeks later he passed away easily, no need for a morphine rotation, he just passed unexpectedly. He couldn't live without her.

This happened to me last year. I had gotten some bad news from my Dr. and stopped at the store on my way home. A little girl riding past me in the cart reached out and touched my arm. She told her Grandma to stop and reached over and took my hand. I was shocked, she had the biggest angelic grin as she excitedly told me her name was Anna. Well, I couldn't help but smile back and tell her my name. For the next 5 or 6 min she told me all about her life experiences as a 3 year old. She told me jokes, we sang cartoon theme songs right there in the cereal isle of Kroger's. She was so delightful that i'd forgotten my sour mood. Her mom joined us and we discovered we have a lot in common. The whole family have become my friends. Anna comes to play dates with my niece. They will be pirate princesses when they grow up.

How awesome is this? That sweet little blessed angel knew that he needed someone and wanted to feel loved again. Like the old saying goes (so true), we can learn so much from children because of their pure hearts with open minds and no prejudice. If news channels would focus more on love, kindness and the good things and less about cruelty, bias and hate, we’d all probably have different mindsets and beliefs.

I live 2 countries away from my family. It's not cuz we aren't close. Not everything falls within the limited scope of many people's little tiny box
@shannonbriggs1005 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately... when you get old, the friends you have start passing away one by one. My dad is 66 and nearly every month someone he knows is dying or has already passed. Most elderly people are lucky to still live close to their children/grandchildren and get visits often but some have children/grandchildren that moved far away (like a different state/country). They’ll visit often at first but eventually the visits become rare and the phone calls dwindle. I’ve seen it happen and it’s sad.

@@quine2994 You are crazy! Everyone and everything dies because God wants to show you He is the one and only, the omnipotent entity or else I can only imagine how would have people acted if they were immortal, I pretty sure they would have consider themselves god. People are like that even if they get a little fame or a lot of money they consider themselves better than everyone all of a sudden so God take lives to give you the reality check that you are human and He is God know your place but He is kind too just like a mom relationship she is kind to her children but shows her authority as well or else children will spoil themselves if no one is watching over them and Australia fire is not because of God its because of human themselves they are destroying the mother nature by their own hands and then blame God for it. I am not saying you to believe on god thats your business what I am saying don't be so disrespectful to God if you don't believe on Him just keep your opinion to yourself because that's disrespectful towards believers
