@Doug Bull I agree, fully. They are majestic creatures that should not be confined that a bathtub. It's easier said than done though to release a captive orca back into the wild.

I personally don’t LOVE captivity but I believe that the trainers LOVE their animals very dearly. It’s probably safer for the Orcas in captivity than in the wild. Most of “Blackfish” is a lie if you believe it.

Exactly. Blackfish did however opened a whole new era to captivity and I like that. But like Seaworld most of Blackfish was lies and the few true things said were very very true. If blackfish wasn't a thing they would still be breeding orcas, doing the one ocean shows and their treatment wouldn't have improved. Seeing wild orcas really makes captivity look sad.

@metridium Why do they do it then? In all honesty, I don't understand why they would do it if there wasn't something in return. Of course captivity isn't best, but I guess with how it is now, this is better than leaving them to rot in a tank....

But as I said, something needs to be done with them while they are now captive, obviously release won't work, but I do believe their breeding programme should stop.

Dawn Bradcheau was the best performer it was a horrible accident sea world should have said put the hur clipped on the back if your head at all times ilove orcas too they sh free them back to the ocean they are ocean going animals godspeed take care if Dawn God

I agree. I think what happened to Dawn was a horrible accident and black fish left out a lot of the early abuse that was suffered by Tilikum and the other orcas at Sealand of the pacific where he was kept before Seaworld got him. That marine park was the one who would starve the orcas and would not give them any toys at all if they didn't do a show perfectly. While I understand people who protest animal shows, Seaworld never denied food nor enrichment time to their orcas just because they made a mistake. It was also noted by many trainers that when Tilikum first came there he seemed not to want to give back his toys during play time probably because he was worried he never get to use them again. Also when Sealand shut down one proposal had been setting the whales free but the laws at time prohibited releasing a marine mammal that had been in captivity for more than 6 months so by law Tilly and the other two females couldn't be released. The reason they were legally allowed to release Keiko was when he was flown in from Mexico to Oregon he was brought it with paperwork stating he was only in Oregon for rehabilitation reasons so they could legally release him when he was ready.

But it wasn’t the hair at all. Tilikum grabbed her by the arm and dragged her down. Although I must admit, Dawn shouldn’t have been on that little platform laying down so close to Tilikum. She was a veteran and should’ve known that was too risky. Idk if it was the first time she ever did that or if she had done it multiple times before but cmon, that was dangerous regardless.
