A mother and father in Scioto County, Ohio stand trial in the death of their infant son. Young Dylan Groves was found dead 30 feet down a well last year, prosecutors said. Authorities blame the boy’s parents-mother Jessica Groves, and father Daniel Groves-for what happened. The defendants are charged with aggravated murder, murder, kidnapping, endangering children, tampering with evidence, interference with custody, gross abuse of a corpse, and four counts of felonious assault.
Problems stemmed right from Dylan’s day of birth on January 10, 2019. The boy was born with drugs in his system, authorities claim. Daniel Groves later got the child back after showing that he followed regulations, but the defendant allegedly started missing important dates, including court dates and doctor’s appointments.
Investigators claim that both defendants bolted on a four-wheeler when authorities dropped by the home for a checkup on May 20, according to WLTW. Deputies obtained a search warrant, got Jessica Groves to give herself up quickly, but Daniel Groves was only arrested after a six-hour standoff. Authorities said they found $42,000 of stolen items at the residence, and later found the late infant in a well.
Deputies said Dylan Groves didn’t even make it to a full three months of age. They claim there’s evidence showing he’d been dead since March.
How Baby Dylan Was Found In the Well:
A coroner determined that the victim had been slain. The child sustained several bone fractures, had been wrapped in plastic bags with duct tape, then put in milk crates that were wrapped in chains, and other bindings, according to WSAZ. The crates were weighted down with rocks and a weight, authorities said. As in his birth, Groves died with drugs in his body, according to the coroner. This allegedly included methamphetamine.

Exactly! I want to know why on earth did these CPS workers just take this fathers word about everything he told them like having a job, ect. But CPS workers NEVER actually verified this guys statements & “promises” to them? WTF? That needs to be changed ASAP! Always verify what someone is telling you before you give them an infant to care for... That’s common sense!!!

While I agree that CPS needs to change the way they do things, in this particular case it’s actually a judge who decided to give the poor baby back to these parents, despite CPS’s reluctance. They didn’t agree to giving the child back but ultimately it was the judges decision. Otherwise, I do agree that there are some people employed by CPS, who fail to do their job properly and diligently.

I do understand how CPS doesn't recognize the fact that they deal with DRUG ADDICTS and DRUG ADDICTS lie about everything. Everyone of the addicts claims must be followed up on. Daniel's claim that he had 6 months leave from Rural King is highly suspicious. He was a fork lift operator and so it's highly doubtful he would have been given time off vs. just getting laid off.

To the jury: Thank you so much for serving. I can't imagine how agonizing it was sitting through a case where a helpless, defenseless baby was tortured (with drugs before he was even born), and probably tortured until he drew his last desperate breath. I admire you and appreciate you all for bringing justice for this baby and hope you will, with time, be able to lock away the horror of it. I have no connection to this case, but just wanted to say thank you for rising to the call to be such an important part of our justice system.

traci streater I completely agree. I guess in most cases if the bio parent is too selfish to quit getting high when there’s a baby inside, very few would attend the classes making them financially draining to the State. And it’s not always the bio parent that causes this kind of harm. Look at the Rosenbaum trial. They beat a two year old child and her older sister with the buckle end of a belt and when she was so sick she couldn’t eat properly, Laila Daniel was beaten so hard , her organs were torn. Similar pattern of fractures and healing fractures in that case too. Perhaps there needs to be some kind of mandatory classes for both bio and foster/adoptive parents for it to have the right impact? Something needs to change, that’s for sure. I

Most of the people commenting on here will have done things they regret, but it's safe to say that none of them will have murdered a defenceless child and disposed of the body down a well. By saying "he who is without sin cast the first stone" you are basically saying someone who ran a red light is on the same level as a child murderer. Get it into your thick skull that child murderers are the lowest of the low. The people deserving of our sympathy are not the "sinners" but those who have to deal with the consequences of their actions. Due to the evil acts carried out by these two wastes of oxygen a 14 year old boy has to deal with the death of his younger brother at the hands of his "parents", and face up to spending most of his life with his parents behind bars (where they belong). If you're going to display any sympathy and compassion reserve it for that young man, and for the people who had to deal with this case. It's people like you who give Christianity a bad name.

Under the Christian model, couldnt God choose to create any universe he wanted to? Didnt God choose to create the universe in which Baby Dylan would be tortured and murdered by his parents in the months after being born addicted to drugs? It is impossible for an omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, omnibenevolent. One of those has to go. Based on the horrific crap in the bible, I think onmibenevolent would be the most difficult characteristic to defend. What was God's plan for Baby Dylan? What possible justification is there for creating a baby who experiences nothing but horror before his parents kill him? Honestly it scares the crap out of me how religion can RIP people's humanity from them without them even knowing it.

I watched the entire hearing over the past couple days, and sitting here watching them get what is due to them, both, and especially on what would have been poor Dylan's first B-Day--irony--to think all could have been different; They could have been brave, worked with the system, and if that 'man' would have been a proper guardian? Who knows, they may all have been having cake and ice cream right now. But Nope, they chose THIS. And? They are getting what they deserve, if not more. Tonight is going to be a bitch of a night for them both...I hope it drags on like molasses in January!

@@iaacowusuofosu4247 isn't it strange when people think that their prayers will help this woman? God won't bring repentance so asking God to forgive someone else is not productive. In the case of a mortal sin, it is all on the sinner to accept their sin (which she has not), repent sincerely (which she has not) and take action to be forgiven (which I don't think she will). Forgiveness is not unilateral. You cannot pray to God to make another person repent. Without sincere repentance and doing acts to demonstrate it, a person is going to Hell. Once there no prayers will deliver someone. She knew this was wrong, chose to do it anyway (repeatedly) and has not accepted responsibility for her actions. Her tears are for herself. We are born forgiven of original sin but not of the sins we commit while exercising free will. As it stands, she's going straight down right past Purgatory.

The scary thing is when you see defendants in court who are now many months sober. They are then in a position to more clearly understand the true severity of their crimes. It is then that they try to verbally "bargain" for their freedom. Let this be a lesson to others to live life as a sober being and one will not come to a life like these sorry individuals....
