@GardeningUpbeat
@GardeningUpbeat 4 жыл бұрын
@Sarbani Chatterjee, Most welcome and thank you so so much for your words, appreciate it. They were even blooming in December as well..though bit less. It actually depends on temperature - if it's not too low, they would continue blooming :-) In Dec, daytime temp was almost 20 and it was enough for them to bloom. However, they almost stopped blooming in Jan as it was bit cold this year. Gomprena is another flowering plant that does the same..

These flowers are in the front yard of my new house. One of the plants already has a bloom. Can these be removed from the ground and potted in a container, and will they come back the next season? Will i need to take the pots in during cooler weather?
@GardeningUpbeat
@GardeningUpbeat 4 жыл бұрын
@CurlyChemist, Sure, you can dig up from the ground and grow in container. They would come back next season...At the season end, you can just cut the plants on the base (around 1 inch above the soil) and keep the pot aside. Eventually, you would see new growths in Spring time :-) Our area is frost free and so I keep them outside in cooler weather. In winter, either you can take the pots in or you can add mulch. I hope, that helps. Thank you for watching the video :-)

@Kushal Kanashiya2001, Glad to know you love it :-) Well, it doesn't cost a lot. You can use waste items like plastic bottles, biscuit container as Pots. For seeds & cuttings, you can collect from friends. There are way many plants you can grow. But if you are in City area, I can understand that it might be bit difficult to arrange the Soil. But still, can be done. Good luck :-)

Kushal, you can grow plants in cut shampoo bottles, powder bottles, used paint cans, used tyres (cut in half), used cup o noodles, polythene bags from online shopping. For soil, you can collect some from your evening walks, from construction sites or even request your domestic help to get you some.

I also cannot afford so I grow in broken plastic bucket, cement and rice sacks, used bottles etc. I collect seeds from the market bought veggies and cuttings I take from wherever I get, I beg and borrow, if it is on road side I just take a cutting that's it, it's so simple, if u really love gardening go ahead when ur parents will see good results I wish they will give u money for gardening but try to get seeds from relatives or friends who are gardening and bring soil from road side, I did the same, now I also do composting at home and use half soil and half that compost, sometimes I fill 3/4 of dry leaves/ kitchen waste nicely press and then fill top with soil so I require soil also less and dry leaves turn into compost.

@Sushmita G, If I am not wrong, your pot is the plastic one? If yes, it's common and nothing to worry about. Even it's happening in clay pot, it's okay. You soil is more of a clay type and so it's happening. If you use cocopeat, you would find it less. Thank you :-)

@@GardeningUpbeat I mostly have earthen pots but you're right the soil here is clayey. I'll try mixing cocopeat. Thanks.
@GardeningUpbeat
@GardeningUpbeat 4 жыл бұрын
@Sushmita G, If you use Cocopeat, the problem would be solved almost. But anyway, even though if you don't use it it's okay, you would just turn the soil on a regular basis so that it doesn't become too compact. As I have lots of pots, I never do all those things and that's why I use Cocopeat always. Soil always stays soft and no need to turn the soil :-) My soil is also more sandy type instead of clay. Anyway, it's not a big issue and if your plants are doing fine, you don't have to worry too much. Happy gardening :-)
