Growing Up Without Borders

Күн бұрын

Hey Guys, today we are continuing our adventure in Nepal, exploring the heart of Kathmandu over two amazing days!
We kicked off our morning with a delightful breakfast at the Hyatt Place Kathmandu, our cozy home away from home. 👉🏻 growingupwitho... Feeling energized, we took a short taxi ride to the historic Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square, where we explored the royal palace and shared some fascinating fun facts about Nepal along the way.
Our journey then led us to the bustling market streets of Thamel but before we tell you more, we need to say a special thanks to our sponsor, Adobe Express. They make creating short form content so seamless and now have an app which is super easy to use. Check out their links here 👉🏻

We wandered through charming alleyways, enjoying the peace away from the main streets, and stumbled upon some delicious Momos, our favorite Nepali treat.
In need of some pants, we went shopping and each found the perfect pair of hiking pants. Returning to the Hyatt Place, we relaxed at their rooftop pool before indulging in a delightful dinner at Zing World of Flavours restaurant.
The next morning, after meeting some friendly Chinese tourists during breakfast, we set off on a 30-minute taxi ride to Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
We marvelled at the Nyatapola Temple and the different squares, feeling like we were transported back in time as we walked through the ancient streets.
Our day concluded with a drive up to the iconic Monkey Temple, where we soaked in breathtaking views of Kathmandu. We ended the day with a lovely meal back at the Hyatt Place, reflecting on our incredible experiences.
Stay tuned for our next Nepali video where we explore a Durbar Square at night, experience the vibrations of a singing bowl, and witness the incredible cremation ceremony at the Pashupatinath Temple.
You won't want to miss it.
Enjoy the video!!!

there are packages to go to the top of the Mount Everest. Did you try that ? Please try if not tried already. If you pay, they will do all the preparation - and they will teach all the things needed to go to the top of the Mount Everest.

Yes they use the selfies for ...... purposes. Its plain objectifying. There is a difference between North-Indian plains people, and places like Nepal, Ladakh, Sikkim & North-East states. They don't have a complex about skin-colour.

hello guys! welcome to nepal 🫶 those ‘deep fountain ponds’ are called dhunge dhara or hiti in nepalese! they are traditional stone drinking fountains which are part of a really complex drinking water supply system that our ancient rulers made throughout the kathmandu valley , though they aren’t used as frequently now , you can still catch people washing clothes there! if i am not wrong , they date back to 400AD and the last known hiti was built in the 1800’s. oh yes, i almost forgot to tell you that these fountains also used to run 24/7 as it drew water from underground sources , however , as Kathmandu has become a densely populated concrete jungle , the groundwater these hitis draw from have not really been able to replenish , hence its rare to see water flowing through them.

Chinese following the Indian selfie tactic. Send the wife or kid first, & then the men swoop in for selfies. And thanks for differentiating the notorious North-India, as the South-West states & North-East states are different vibes. The Himalayan states are just like Nepal too.

BTW the Chinese guy asking for selfie like in India is not at all natural. Its hard to understand what I mean. But in future you guys may catch my point.

23:01 The deep water bath-like structure is called 'Dhungedhara' in Nepali. Here is what chatgpt says about Dhungedhara- "They are traditional stone spouts found in the Kathmandu Valley, often serving as communal water sources for locals. Dhunge dhara means "stone water tap" in Nepali. Ancient Kathmandu Valley maintained the water supply using Dhunge Dhara by tapping into natural water sources like springs or underground aquifers. Channels and pipes made of stone or clay were used to divert water from these sources to the Dhunge Dhara. The system likely involved careful engineering and maintenance to ensure a steady supply of clean water to the community." The following link shows a basic mechanism of how these work. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4a4dYaZfZqbhq8si=TNJZYQeNLZKT_hte

Hello guys those fountain pond you called are not ponds. Those are natural spring water outlet. Back in the days those outlets were the places where the people got their water from. So the citizen of KTM, patan and Bhaktapur would go and get their water for their cooking, washing and cleaning. There are many of these all across the city specially where the old houses were.

I also thought Yak cheese tastes like Gouda. I think it is a drier version of Gouda. Yak is male, so the milk for the cheese should be from Chaunri/Nak Gai(cow). Nepalese aren't pushy and give the tourist much needed space, which seems not to be the case in India or China. Sorry our roads aren't in good condition, the credit for that goes to our politicians and bureaucracy...

It was the one close to the city. If you ask the taxi driver to bring you up to the top he’ll know what you mean. If not I think it’s a 365 stairs.
