This is called conditioning. EA and Respawn are slowly introducing these systems, over time, anticipating and calculating the impact of backlash, then either making really minor adjustments to then say "we listened to the community" or to just full send it and tank the negative PR... bc we all know that it's still a net positive for their bottom line, at the end of the day.

What we've seen over the past 10 years in the industry is this: companies pushing the bar on monetization and if there's backlash, they back down a bit but not all the way. Then people feel like they were listened to and praise the companies choice. But they repeat this over and over. Right now we are seeing mobile game levels of manipulative design being forced into triple a games.

I still find this so hard to believe as a Titanfall veteran that this is the same studio that used to sell prime Titans skins for $5, nose art packs were $4, camo packs were $3 and elite weapons skins that were $5 that give you 1 extra merit to you an your teammates and a chance to get double XP back in Titanfall 2. It’s disappointing to see the studio that I held such high standards for to turn out like this.

The issue is that people know how to hack Source for 20 years now. However, it is never impossible to rework anything in any game engine. It is not sur that reworking their Source-based engine would take more time and money than migrating to a new engine that no one knows how to use at respawn / EA. The only engine they may switch to is Frostbite as it is Ea's property.

When it comes to game development something being ‘hard’ or ‘impossible to code’ is just doublespeak for it nit being cost-effective. If I remember correctly, original WoW devs said that coding the ability to swap factions is impossible due to the way the code was structured. Yet when they started bleeding copious amounts of players that functionality suddenly became a possibility.

Wish they did the same event for the reactive flatline skin by allowing us to grind over the course of the season, but instead of a reactive skin, it would be heirloom shards. This would bring back a lot of people. There are over 20 heirlooms if you count skins, they can give one heirloom shards away by having us grind in game.

I feel like the reason prestige skins don’t evolve in game is because the actual character model evolves unlike the reactive weapons where it basically just puts more smoke and moves its parts faster. It would probably be pretty difficult to change the physical character model randomly in game whenever you hit a certain dmg number and would definitely look weird if anyone you’re fighting just suddenly changed character models. Probably would make balancing a little weird too because the “bald wraith” that’s killing everyone now has a helmet and is a different color

The deathbox in the ff event can only be used if you use the sword. So the heirloom that came after with all the tiers cant use that and the deathbox from last event thats pure greed. It should be two separate things in the menu. And wraith still dont have a dive trail

I liked the dive trail change tbh. You’re guaranteed heirloom shards after 500 packs and you can get them from leveling up. Unless you’re flat out impatient and spend money to buy the packs because you need it right away. Also, not everyone wants to grind ranked for multiple reasons . Unless you have a premade squad (which a lot of people don’t) grinding ranked is a nightmare. You might get lucky once in a while and get a decent teammate, gaining a few rp, but the next match you end up loosing it cause you get paired up with some 9 year old and a new player. On top of that, a lot of people have full time jobs/classes and don’t have the time or energy to put up with all of that. Why would someone want to deal with all that to get a temporary dive trail that gets taken away after a season, when you can spend free heirloom shards and get it for free(plus the free ones look a lot more unique, compared to the bland ones that came with ranked rewards)

I’ve noticed this waaaay long ago. But I only started to stop playing around season 10. Played a bit but kinda got bored..11 I would play for about a few months into it. 12 I played even less and 13 I played for about a week and haven’t gone back since.

A thing that might have saved this idea would be if you bought the full season BP you would unlock all current and future legends. Some people find that sort of deal worth it. But not as they are doing it only unlocking them for the ongoing season thats pure greed.

Other things to consider - Lack of Fixes -Audio has been bugged since almost S2 - Lack of Content - I Remember the days where there was interactive teasers, heirlooms, characters - i'm sorry but skins aren't gonna cut it THATS NOT CONTENT - Ranked - One shouldnt be ranking on "Playing More" it should be reflective on performance - Ranked - Dive Trails or where the rewards for the ranking up = lackluster doing ranked - Hackers - the uncontrollable state of hackers in this game has rose like a rocket flying to the sky (I've also heard that EA keep hackers on cos they will spend money on the game) + Ease of Cheating + some of them getting around bans somehow

I used to occasionally buy Apex packs because I wanted to support the game. Because of that, I now have a lot of crafting materials, and that was fine with me. It felt like Apex was saying, 'Okay, you're supporting us, so here’s this currency that you can exchange for items later.' (even if it's worth less) But EA (or Respawn) are trying to make the crafting materials as useless as possible, so I’m not spending any more money on Apex until I use up all my crafting materials.
