Absolutely fantastic work, Gary! You and your team, especially Andrew, took the time to come in and produce this informative and educational video. I won’t say I’m ready for AM2 yet, as there is still a lot of work to do to reach the required standard and feel confident in carrying out these installations. I will continue to watch in my spare time and strive to reach the standard required to be considered for the role

Thanks so much for this video. Got my AM2E on Monday and going in without the pre day so any information is really helpful. All of the points were things I knew but still so good to pause the video and reinforce with the books and get those bits of the brain working again.

@@harryblake9286 There's nothing especially difficult if you have knowledge of all the things on the checklist. They give you a clear wiring diagram and brief and all the reference books so the answers are all there. You get time to read before you start so don't just skim through, use all the time to take it in, make some notes and a bit of a plan of attack. Also you can use your own side cutters, pliers and wire strippers which is worth doing just so you have that familiar feel. The rest of the tools are just what they give you and don't expect it to all be sharp and new! I'd say the most challenging aspect is getting it all done in the time without wasting time where it's not needed. Things that you spend the extra time on in the real world may not be things you are getting marked on, I definitely lost some time making it look good and doing 'above and beyond' bits then realised it would have been better spent having the extra 30mins to check through each element at the end. You don't need it neat and beautiful it just has to be right. The only really useful tips I can give you are to consider doing the containment early on as it may be involved in multiple bits of wiring, and try to finish and check each module as you go - if you run out of time or end up rushing and making mistakes then it's best that only happens on one circuit so you only end up retaking that one. Obviously you shouldn't plan to fail, but 5 mistakes on one circuit will cost you a lot less than 1 mistake on 5 circuits. I don't think I can really say much more than that without giving away the 'secrets' they guard so closely but like I say if you know enough to confidently fill in the ticklist with at least some knowledge on each element then you won't be encountering anything you don't know how to do. Just stay cool and focused, work swiftly without rushing and double check the diagrams and briefs as the circuits may not be designed the same way you are used to. Nothing wrong with asking questions too, they may not answer them but if they can it could save you going wrong or misinterpreting. It's also totally fair to ask about how to use the test equipment if it's not a brand you are used to. The won't tell you where to stick the probes but if you are struggling to find a function or whatever just ask don't waste time fiddling. I won't wish you luck cos it's not really about that but I hope you do good on the day.
