I’ve had my Pro for a year too. I ended up buying that accessories platform they released back in the spring. I couldn’t deal with the crappy shifter mount anymore. I got the platform and the new design shifter mount. Much better and way more firm with plenty of adjustment. Plus the platform has a bunch of different options for mounting shifters and flight sticks. They told me they had some flight stick accessories coming but that hasn’t happened. There’s also a much better keyboard tray and goofy Fanatec handbrake mount for the platform. I would suggest getting one. It kinda transformed the Pro for me.
@presidentsmug19246 жыл бұрын
thanks. yeah if its as good as you say it would definitely help the omega last a lot longer.
@OhItsThat6 жыл бұрын
President Smug If you like using a shifter I would definitely get one with the new mount. I think it was like $60 for the platform in the States and $40 for the shifter mount. Its nice having the shifter basically attached to the seat.
@StirlingMossDrives6 жыл бұрын
OhItsThat I also have had the gt omega pro for a year now totally agree with both of you. I have the original shifter mount and keyboard. I had a g27 at first and it would always swivel on its own, you would have to tighten the bolt underneath very tight and then lose the swivel action. Then I just recently got full fanatec gear. The keyboard tray was completely useless because everything on it would vibrate off. I also drilled extra holes for pedals for the extra stiffness. The shifter is by far the worst thing ever on this rig, surprisingly so many rigs use this stupid twist knob method and the fanatec shifter is so heavy and requires so much torque, but I found a simple solution that works with me instead of buying the new mount from gt omega. I would not support them after cheaping out on so many things. I simply took the metal rods out of where the knobs screw and put pieces of cardboard inside so when the metal rod goes back in and you twist the knobs flush to the cardboard and makes a solid seal against the metal rods. Basically no more play and the knobs don’t undo them selves. If you guys want to see a video I can show you very simple mod and costs nothing.
@OhItsThat6 жыл бұрын
Stirling Moss You should make a video for people who may be struggling with it. I have no problems with the shifter now. Only cause I bought that platform with the new shifter mounts. It actually works great. I have a CSW V2, V3 pedals, SQ shifter and the handbrake. I also have two DSD button boxes on my V2. Because of that I flat out couldn’t use the old shifter mount. My hand would hit one of the button boxes when shifting. This new one is actually great. It’s stiff and has all kinds of adjustments. No problems with coming loose. My only remaining complaint about the chassis is the weak keyboard tray with the damn nut that constantly has to be tightened. I was thinking about getting the new one as it looks much better and mounts to the seat platform at the rear. But I got an Oculus Rift and stuffed my rig in a corner and no longer have the room. The keyboard tray looks huge. The GT Omega is my first chassis. I only got it cause the Obutto Ozone was out of stock for months. At some point I plan on upgrading but I just don’t see any reason now. Once I get my hands on one of the Fanatec Podium DDs I’m sure I’ll need to. I doubt the Omega Pro could handle a DD without making a ton of noise and falling apart.

Great review, Thanks! Consider two cheap things to do: Go down to Home Depot and have them cut a 3/4 plywood board to be two inches larger than the base of the "whole" stand. Mount the front of the stand with some brackets and the front will no longer tip upwards. Use three brackets, one at the front, and two on the sides. The second tweak: Take that steering wheel bracket down to a metal works shop and have them cut the bottom extension below the top hole you are using. That will eliminate the metal sticking down that can hit your knees. Ouch! A metal shop will slice through that metal like it is butter.

@Lucky7Wolfin7 жыл бұрын
My playseat is the same. Ill fitting joints and those stupid tighten by hand bolts. You can easily replace those with normal bolts. It will make a big difference. Just be careful not to over tighten. Use flat washers and electric tape where the joints are. Especially on the shifter mount joints. That really helps with tightening things up. I've added about 2 kilos of metal to keep my playseat solid. Ditched the original seat cause it was shit and use a £100 off Gumtree OMP competition seat instead. Comfy. I actually have another tip for you. I will send you an IM on discord and we can have a wee chat.

I have the gt omega art for about 18 months now and since I've change to the fanatec equipment from thrustmaster I've noticed the same weaknesses in it. Its a good entry level but now it just too weak. Its the same sleeved steel with pinch screws but its square pipe. I have also noticed the symmetry issue I'm constantly trying to adjust it think I've sorted it thne next time I sit in it, its way off again. Also don't buy the castor wheels for under the frame so you can move the rig around. The castors are good but the metal of the rig isn't strong enough for them and they bend out and collapse to one side. Am 6'1 14 stone maybe to heavy in the first place but I don't the frame was ever going to work with them with anyone. Good review thanks for that isn't just mine. Maybe the RS1 Rseat might be a better option.

The convenience of having everything now for cheaper will be out weighed by the fact that the quality of the overall product will leave you a lil disappointed. However I must say that the seat has been really good. Has held it's shape quite well even now and I've done a lot of racing. @@presidentsmug1924 I just bought Logitech g29. Do you know if the force feedback is strong? I’ve not used yet. Been waiting to buy a rig. Do you know how strong the force feedback is on g29? I was going to buy this set up with Rs6 seat and I was gonna go with art version as it seems more adjustable, especially as I’m not tall but I’m just worried that the art version of this, may have too much flex. I’ve seen many reviews of the Art version and they all say how sturdy everything is but I’m unsure if they using a cheaper wheel with little force feedback. I’m only about 5ft 4 and unsure if I’ll have any problems. I have 2 options. 1. Buy the Art version - seems much more adjustable but the wheel may not be stable. 2. Buy the pro and be able to add on a stability rail but setup might not be adjustable enough for me. Have you tried the Art version; by any chance?

@@presidentsmug1924 I get mine on wednesday to match with my fanatec gear. Now that I see your shifter issues i will buy a bottle of threadlocker. Once I get the shifter in the spot that I want it (after 100 or so runs) I am going to put thread locker on the adjustable screws to keep it from getting loose. Not really sharing my setup with anyone.

@@presidentsmug1924 Alright so it looks like I went the Epoxy route. If you are tired of it moving go get some JB-WELD from home depot its only about $6 or you can get whatever permanent epoxy you have access to that sticks to metal and supports up to 3-5,000 psi. I just finished mine and let it set for 24 hours. When i say this shifter mount is now rock solid I mean it. Zero movement at all. Of course it has lost its adjustment functionality but it makes up for it in tensile strength and rigidity. I can literally shift as hard as I possibly can for hours and it doesnt move. Try it if you get tired of the shifter movement. I epoxied the whole thing. The shift mount piece, the base mount, and the L shaped shifter height mount.
