The RB is a good looking engine. Its certianly the best sounding 6 cylinder engine. Period. A cylinder head oil drain kit would have been good if youre going to spin that engine fast for long periods. I think you could check the Aussies and New Zelanders for that. It drains oil from the back of the cylinder head.
@PHATT_TV2 жыл бұрын
Yep 👍 you’re correct. I’ll be showing it all in my 34 Gtr build soon on my KZbin channel

Along with the restrictor for the head feed, RBs are notorious for trapping oil in the head, especially once you upgrade the oil pump.
@PHATT_TV2 жыл бұрын
@@OverdriveMediaNZ very true, I did 1.0 restrictors on top of my block, PRP head drain, baffled rocker cover too. Next step would be upgrading oil pump, then extended sump. If you’re chasing crazy hp numbers then I’d say considers dry sump set up

Oooh the rubberized finish in the throttle plates is likely to help seal them when closed. I believe from the factory, there’s a coating in the runners where the plates sit that is usually ruined when people go and clean or hone them.

Absolutely awesome build! I do believe however to avoid signal issues on your fuel pressure sensor you would have to put a rubber line in between. Not hard mount it to the engine, vibrations might cause false signal or even failure of the sensor.

Quick fun fact about the "paint marks" it's actually a product made by Dykem called "Torque seal". It's not paint, it's a ooey gooey gel that dries rock hard and is a "tamper evident mark". That way you know if the screw has loosened or been removed. I use it all the time in my profession.

Good call on the R35 coilpacks, my old #1 coilpack shat the bed within minutes of its first startup after working on it for months. Also, highly recommend a P/S belt idler pulley. It is not fun to be at the track and lose a belt that can mar up/damage stuff in your engine bay, then try to drive it at speed without power steering! Ross Performance makes one, or upgrading to a KRC pump kit from Two Six Engineering is a good way to go (and comes with the idler pulley). I've got a few idler kits tho, if you want I can send one up.

With such big injectors in that fuel system I am surprised that you have not upgraded the fuel pulse damper to a nice low profile radium fuel pulse damper. When I had the stock fuel pulse damper on my EJ Turbo, I had bunch of lean points in the fuel map that had to be compensated for with big fuel spikes, when I got the new radium fuel pulse dampers installed my tuner was able to take out all the big fuel spikes he had to put in and now she runs much better at idle and across the rpm range along with a minor increase in fuel mileage. Over all that long block is sexy looking.

not sure if you addressed this in your other prev videos but MY 2 cents would be to ABSOLUTELY STRAIGHT UP either get a new oil pump or check to make sure its not on its way out. My RB's OIl pump gave up during a dyno run and was blessed my mechanic was on the ball and noticed the oil guage dropping like mad. Upon further reading/research, RB's oil pumps are known to be the achillies heel and die early because, well they not the greatest. anyway great episode and a damn good looking engine

I find it ironic that you have a poster chilling on that cabnet in the background of the legendary OS Giken TC24-B1Z which was based on the Rb's Grandfather, the Legendary Nissan/Datsun L28. The Os Giken twin cam head was super rare i believe somewhere from only 9 or 11 were made, 30 years later they started taking orders again with a revised/updated twin cam head. Proper blast from the past. This RB build has been incredible to watch keep up the fantastic work. The intake is so pretty which is rare for something oem 😂

One suggestion I would make is to relocate the IAT sensor from the plenum to the cold side of the intercooler pipe just before it reaches the plenum. The oem iat sensor location is prone to heat soaking and you’ll get much more accurate readings with it in the intercooler pipe.

U might get a fuel pressure issues using the original reg and by pass return reg . It will blow by and won’t hold pressure. The link sensor should not be on the engine. It should be on the body due to vibration . You should of used metal gaskets as well . Other wise you are doing a great job . Stock rods and pistons don’t like a lot of power. U need an oil cooler and plate -10 Lines off the original oil block. .those turbos make 1000hp
@speedacademy2 жыл бұрын
Why would the REG not hold the pressure. Its not like we will be upping the pressure with a massive pump? Was thinking of a Nismo unit but again not sure its worth doing.
