The Candidates Tournament 2018 is an eight-player double round-robin chess tournament, which will be held in Berlin, Germany, from 10-28 March 2018. The winner earns the right to challenge the defending world champion, Magnus Carlsen of Norway, in the World Chess Championship 2018.
The tournament will be contested as a double round-robin with each player playing 14 games. This means players will face each other twice (once with black pieces and once with the white pieces). Four rest days will take place: after rounds 3, 6, 9, and 12. The winner of this 8-player candidates tournament will be the challenger of Magnus Carlsen at the World Chess Championship 2018.
The prize fund (Regulations 3.8.1) is 420,000 euros, with 95,000 to the winner, 88,000 to second, 75,000 to third, down to 17,000 for last place. Prize money will be divided equally between players on the same score.

Thanks for the video! I'd love to see either Aronian or Caruana winning the tournament and challenging Magnus in November. I think Aronian vs. Carlsen would be one of the most interesting match-ups in recent championship history. And Caruana is just so good and solid, and he might just be on the war-path after Weik an Zee.

thanks for this, but i have to say that u need to give more insight into the bigger picture here, grischuk after he first went a piece up was down to playing on his increment as he was super low on time, and wesley tried some nice resourceful tricks to complicate matters however sasha kept his cool under pressure and made the time control and converted you made it look simpler than what it actually was lol

Ok so the weirdest thing happened to me. I'm watching on the mobile KZbin app....and at around 2:53 it triggers my Google command and it opens the "ok google" screen and it starts searching the words "rook A to e8" (which are the words you say at 2:55). The weirdest part is that I have my ok Google command set to voice recognition so that it only recognizes my own voice. So somehow agadmator unintentionally impersonated me and I don't even know how it got triggered. I tried rewinding to see if it does it every time and it DOES! It only triggers it in full screen . I have an LGv20 phone. Let me know of this happens to anyone else lol

This may be controversial, but I believe they should stop using the move 40 time control completely. It would make for less draws, more entertaining games and you wouldn't have random moves being repeated just to get to time control. It may mean that we could even see new ideas and openings at the top level. The time control should be game in 90 minutes +15 seconds increment. Plus it would really add that extra level of time management skill to the game. Rather than having a 40 move safety cushion. Just my opinion.
