I can’t even remember what kind of show has this sign(as a Thai person) Even the TV dramas with scariest scenes don’t have this sign(and there’s lots of times when they don’t even care and put the “suitable for all ages” sign for those show👁👄👁)

Similarly, if you’re a resident expat, what price do you pay? In Morocco, listed prices for things like entrance fees are the same for tourists and Moroccans, but in-city taxis and artisan shops will often charge tourists a lot more (especially in Marrakech). I have to speak to people in Arabic and show that I know what it should actually cost before they give me the real price. Once they find out I live in Morocco and get paid in durhams not dollars, suddenly things get cheaper. 😁
@ItsBanesa
@ItsBanesa 2 жыл бұрын
@@Carmen_mejiaaa if you know the language enough that’s when you start bargaining for a lower price and once they know you’re on to them they tend to “lower” it for you. But they essentially charge you the same amount as a native.

I think every language class should have a section on how to move your tongue and mouth to reproduce sounds! It is really important since not all languages use the same movement and it can really change a sound! So I am really grateful that you include it in your "learning thai" videos. It is really helpfull.

(I'm French too) I've been learning Thai with the Assimil method (and old book from the public library, it's from 1990 and comes with 3 CDs 😁). Well, I find that I sound the closest to the CD (and series) when I place my lips and mouth the way Gun does... It looked kind of funny to me, especially in NOT ME The Series, because it looks like he articulates a lot, but that's what gives me the best results 😅

@@hellomello258 I live in a country where you need to learn a second language fairly young but my experience was that pronounciation was only actively included in college courses. Though it may have changed now. I still think that the pronounciation part of languages classes is seriously understated from primary to high school in my country. It's only in my linguistic class I took in college that the way to correctly move our mouth and tongue influences the pronounciation was taught. It wasn't even in the regular English class. I had that class because I was studying languages!

I've been listening to coffee break Spanish podcast and they also mention about the sounds and how to use your mouth to make the sounds. There are a few parallels between Thai and Spanish with the 't' sound and the slightly rolled 'r' sound, which is kinda interesting! You've done everything right. You explained problem sounds, including tongue placement which is what makes the difference between sounds. The rolling "r" sound is actually easy for me since I learned spanish years ago (though I am now unable to speak it since I am way out of practice) and it is the same sound almost. And the "tor" is also easier since the placement of the tongue is similar to what I do naturally. (maybe cause my first language is french?). The tones are what I struggle a bit more with. The languages I am most familiar with don't have tones so it's harder to understand and practice. Usually tones in the languages I know are to convey an emotion or irony or something similar, it isn't used the same way and it is harder to detect and imitate for me.

However, it is so far back I don't even remember how to write or speak Spanish. I can understand it somewhat though. It is good to practice English with your family, but to expand your knowledge I reccommend wathing tv shows, listening to podcasts and/or radioshows, reading it and talking to native speakers. That is how my skill in English improved after I left school and didn't have classes anymore. I became much more fluent too. I actually learned some korean, japanese, mandarin and thai from watching series too. It is weird to assimilate languages simply by watching tv, but also really neat. Lol that’s the basic songs every Thai knows, we grown up with them. Mostly used in school, university’s events, especially sport and orientation events. Kinda like a way of entertaining and let us be assertive. Actually you can briefly see a person’s personality when someone make them dance to those songs lmao, just judging by their expression/reaction.

I never knew I needed a guide to 'raikantopeni' but here we are lmao this was a very fun video. It still baffles me how bl enjoyers turned a casual announcement into something so hyped and fun, and if there's no announcement beforehand everybody already feels like there's something missing 😂

Oh my, a truly original, clever BL video - of course from the one and only Perth, our learned, observant, and witty guide and teacher. It is the mark of every fan of Thai BL that we know these phonemes - by heart - in our sleep. And now the Master finally reveals to us exactly what the sounds are, what they stand for, what they mean. And we know his learning will be worn lightly, the whole of the lesson brightened by his radiant smile.

I sang for years in Australia in a large symphonic choir which performed some of the great classical choral works. We rolled the "r" in English, Latin and German, but it was always a strong sound. Thanks, Perth, for explaining the soft Thai sound. You do it well. On another note (no pun intended) I, like others, always say Raikantopeni when that message appears on the screen.

I'm here not just because i'm a bl fan or someone who wants to learn more about thai language. But this is my second video that i'm watching of Perth in a short pan of half an hour and i really liked the way he explains it. I never thought the aloof guy from My Engineer would be this cheerful and funny. I'm glad that my curiosity made me watch this video. Now i want to learn a little bit of thai too thanks to Perth

What a fun topic, especially with that opening!! Good to know that Perth's KZbin is suitable for all ages. Phrases like this and 「この番組はご覧のスポンサー提供で送りします」are such earworms. Even if they arent songs. At least we know how to pronounce this now. Potential topic request: something on Buddhism. I don't know if that's too heavy/complicated a topic for this series. But I don't know much about it and some things like making merits or feeding the monks come up quite a bit. Such as in He's Coming with You and Love By Chance. Or the ordination of monks like with Type in TharnType season 2, since that seemed to have a set expected duration. Which is different from ordination of priests.

This comes up in LOTS of BL’s… In Cutie Pie, there’s Syn’s character… is he already a monk? Is being a monk a profession (like being a priest)? It looks to me like the guys spend time learning and developing better thoughts/attitudes and then return back to your previous life but as an improved version of yourself. Is that remotely accurate? 🙈 In TharnType2 Type says he’s doing it to honor his parents, because he doesn’t intend to get married (am I remembering that correctly?)… In Cupid’s Last Wish it looks like there are rules re girls not handing things to the monks… I find all of this fascinating & very different than any religion I’ve ever been exposed to. I would LOVE to learn more! 😃💗
