I feel like my depression was creeping up until I’ve been in quarantine at home, my depression hit me hard. Being home all the time leaves you with your own thoughts and emotions and it’s hard to find an escape nowadays. I felt things changing in my relationship with friends, family and boyfriend. I feel nothing and everything at the same time which is a whole new feeling for me and it’s really hard to cope with it. I feel alone and I’m scared for any changes that are going to be made for my future, but this video is a great first step to help me get back in track.

I've felt like I've had to be strong for everyone else for far too long. (I'm only 20 and I've been in and out of therapy for most of my life.) The past couple of years, my depression has gotten much worse. Though I'm starting to come back out of it, there are still nights like tonight where an overwhelming feeling of loneliness and crushing misery engulfs me to the point of where I am gasping for air because I am sobbing so hard. I've commented on a few others of your videos but I don't think I've ever really let you guys know just how much I am grateful for you. I am forever indebted to you for how much you've helped me. I listen to your videos almost nightly. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Having gone through depression for years, I can clearly see the power of this video. It makes me realize how much beauty, hope and love are in the world, when I had been poisoning myself with a toxic outlook. I started crying while I listened to this video, and found that I had been hating and wasting such an amazing and rich experience that is human life, and will never make that mistake again. Thanks for making this!

I find your guided meditation for depression effective for relaxing. However, I hope you will devote several videos to some of the most frustrating symptoms of depression, such as when nothing seems to matter and things seem lifeless without much beauty. Emotional numbness and not seeing any real value in things are probably some of the worst symptoms of depression. Since your guided meditations are my favorites, I have a few suggestions. I’m not a person who puts much focus on chakras, but I noticed that there are two chakras that represent the categories where I struggle a lot. These two chakras are the Throat Chakra and the Sacral Chakra. The Throat Chakra seems to be underactive and I experience a lot of problems with communication, self-expression, indecisiveness, and being extremely quiet and introverted. It’s gotten even worse, because at least in the past I was able to express myself well through my writing, but now it has become much harder to do that. The Sacral Chakra also seems underactive and I experience problems with blocked creativity, bottled emotions, perceiving things as lifeless, a lack of enjoyment in things that I used to enjoy, and feelings of guilt. This all feels very strange to me because I used to be a very creative and imaginative person. The effects don’t stop there as I have even experienced physical ailments related to these two chakras. So, any guided meditations on these subjects would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)

P sahota “Alright, here goes. I'm old. What that means is that I've survived (so far) and a lot of people I've known and loved did not. I've lost friends, best friends, acquaintances, co-workers, grandparents, mom, relatives, teachers, mentors, students, neighbors, and a host of other folks. I have no children, and I can't imagine the pain it must be to lose a child. But here's my two cents. I wish I could say you get used to people dying. I never did. I don't want to. It tears a hole through me whenever somebody I love dies, no matter the circumstances. But I don't want it to "not matter". I don't want it to be something that just passes. My scars are a testament to the love and the relationship that I had for and with that person. And if the scar is deep, so was the love. So be it. Scars are a testament to life. Scars are a testament that I can love deeply and live deeply and be cut, or even gouged, and that I can heal and continue to live and continue to love. And the scar tissue is stronger than the original flesh ever was. Scars are a testament to life. Scars are only ugly to people who can't see. As for grief, you'll find it comes in waves. When the ship is first wrecked, you're drowning, with wreckage all around you. Everything floating around you reminds you of the beauty and the magnificence of the ship that was, and is no more. And all you can do is float. You find some piece of the wreckage and you hang on for a while. Maybe it's some physical thing. Maybe it's a happy memory or a photograph. Maybe it's a person who is also floating. For a while, all you can do is float. Stay alive. In the beginning, the waves are 100 feet tall and crash over you without mercy. They come 10 seconds apart and don't even give you time to catch your breath. All you can do is hang on and float. After a while, maybe weeks, maybe months, you'll find the waves are still 100 feet tall, but they come further apart. When they come, they still crash all over you and wipe you out. But in between, you can breathe, you can function. You never know what's going to trigger the grief. It might be a song, a picture, a street intersection, the smell of a cup of coffee. It can be just about anything...and the wave comes crashing. But in between waves, there is life. Somewhere down the line, and it's different for everybody, you find that the waves are only 80 feet tall. Or 50 feet tall. And while they still come, they come further apart. You can see them coming. An anniversary, a birthday, or Christmas, or landing at O'Hare. You can see it coming, for the most part, and prepare yourself. And when it washes over you, you know that somehow you will, again, come out the other side. Soaking wet, sputtering, still hanging on to some tiny piece of the wreckage, but you'll come out. Take it from an old guy. The waves never stop coming, and somehow you don't really want them to. But you learn that you'll survive them. And other waves will come. And you'll survive them too. If you're lucky, you'll have lots of scars from lots of loves. And lots of shipwrecks.”

@@KimberlyBaker121 thinking about it in waves of terms makes a lot of sense. That's exactly what I needed to hear. That was beautiful thank you so much. In the past year I have been hospitalized 4 times for SI and SA ( suicidal thought and attempted) I am 15 years old, I have Anxiety, and Depression. I have just recently started using these videos to help me at nights like tonight where I can't sleep and can't help but cry more and more until I can't breathe and have to take a medication to calm me down. My life is basically medication, therapy, doctors appointments, and more therapy. But these videos have given me that little bit of calmness and reassurance that everything will be okay. Watching these when I'm in my moment of SI really helps me to calm down and not have to take medication to calm me down. Thank you for giving this hope to me and giving me my life back to what I want it to be, which is not taking medication all the time and giving me relaxation. Thank you for doing this. God bless you.

I also feel deep sadness sometimes, get Negative thoughts, and have thought suicidal thoughts to. I've been happier for longer periods of times an d haven't gotten as down as I did a few months ago. When certain things of my past come back up it sometimes triggers my sadness. But this video helped me and I appreciate that. I will probably use this video before performances to get my mind performance ready even when Im completely fine. This helps when you're feeling sad and when you just need to focus. This is great. Jamilia Wells through your words--my heart aches--when you shared your feelings of hopelessness (suicidal thoughts), and your negative thoughts. I can completely relate to those feelings myself. The Honest Guys meditation have been a main staple of help for me in those dark times. It is wonderful that you are finding healing through them as well. Please know that you are not alone. I know for me that helps tremendously--knowing your'e not alone. In our Western Culture, having these suicidal ideations is a sign of weakness, therefore it is not easy to share these feelings with others for fear of repudiation. Tamar H. Fair enough but even getting on meds and finding the right therapist isn't going to be an option for people who can't afford it. And sadly, a lot of people with severe mental illness are not well off enough to just fork out money to see a psych and get meds. This is definitely an issue at a structural level that we can't ignore here either.

1) WHICH medication has not been scientifically proven? Cites please? 2) You are free to believe what you want, but I know people who quite literally would have died if they had not been willing to try medication. Sometimes the problem is physical. Sometimes the brain just breaks. Shaming people who need to do things differently from you is not particularly helpful.

Most of us cry. There is so much suppressed hurt in us that these words of kindness and love trigger a deep emotional response.. a very powerful component of depression is a sense of loneliness- the feeling that others cannot understand what you feel.

I’m glad all of you made it to this video who suffer with depression! 💖 Meditation was one of my last stops in looking for relief. I wish it was one of my firsts. That’s ok, it’s all part of the story but I hope I motivate someone to dive further into their meditation practice. Starting out in the dark cave was a little triggering for me in this visualization, it required a lot of extra deep breaths, but I like where this meditation went & it was helpful. When you led us to look into the shopping bag, my mind went to stacks of envelopes & letters before you told us what was in the bag. This leads me to think some of the heaviness I carry is words I need to express on paper.

I can honestly say this meditation helped me so, so much. A common misconception about depression is that it merely involves feeling "blue", when in reality it can be any other (or many) negative emotions that simply make it impossible to function. I found this video when I was highly stressed from work, anxious and simply unable to keep moving, and the effect it had on me was profound. I now turn to it whenever I'm feeling burdened and weighted down. Thank you!

Dear THG, this meditation has made such a HUGE difference in my life and I've only been listening to it for about a week. The vivid detail, sounds and music make it very easy for me to "blend" into the meditation as if I'm there. I've tried guided imagery meditation for years and don't recall ever being able to get to the point where I was more than listening and envisioning the script. Never before have I been able to step into the meditation and become a part of it, feeling, seeing and smelling my surroundings. I have gotten to the point that I look forward to and get excited about this part of my meditation practice; it is fun and blissful, as well as functional. I practice mindfulness too, and although extremely beneficial for me, it is not something that I look forward to doing. I haven't listened to your Anxiety video, and there may be one Middle Earth video that I haven't listened to and they are great, but haven't moved me like Banishing Depression. Do you know of any videos similar to Banishing Depression? They don't have to be about depression. I'm looking for something that I can meld into, as in this one, is blissful and yet helpful in some way too, sort of an escape with purpose, not just to escape. I hope that this makes sense. Thank you so very much. Namaste.

ZenDarling We are so very pleased you were able to 'enter' the meditation, so to speak, ZenDarling. It is a wonderful experience when you can do that, and we're beyond pleased that it has been helpful. Well, it seems you have listened to most of ours, (where we guide people to different places, like Faerie Healing, etc) and we don't personally know any others that are exactly like this though other people have found some of our others give them that same experience. I suppose it is just a very personal thing, perhaps? We always have more to do, so perhaps you may find another that makes you feel like this.

Thank you for your prompt and considered reply. After I left my comment and was going back through some of your other videos, "the smell of the wet rock," in Banishing Depression and 'the smell of cut grass,' in Banishing Depression and/or others, really stood out to me. The beginning, with the intriguing drops of liquid along with the under utilized olfactory system are a big part of what I think drew me in and kept me there. Also,in this one and in Faerie Healing, which I also enjoyed, there is not the trite use of a "safe place," if I recall correctly. I and assume many, are unable to ever "feel" a safe place and that's what your videos are about, it seems, feelings. I absolutely love your work and have recommended it to friends, some of whom already "knew" you can't sleep with out you! That is another gift you have given me, sleep without medication. I will continue to use your videos and watch for new ones. Thank you for your most precious gift. Namaste. I

Hey Honest guys - amazing meditation. Wonderful soothing voices emitting love and compassion. I didn't have too much time and concentration to enjoy this fully, but I will keep listening to it over and over to purify myself. I am suffering from depression on and off since 14 years old, now I am 23 and it's worse than ever. I have an existential crisis, anxiety, excessive fear of death, depersonalization and extreme empathy to others that make me literally live trough everybody's suffering and feel guilty of it. I have totally lost myself, but trough this I will regain hope and find myself again. I used to be a very happy, bubbly and hopeful person.

I have more light in my live due to taking this precious time to dedicate to meditation. I was driven to meditation due to intense desperation of being paralyzed with constant negative thoughts and living patterns. I fully support meditation as it is working for me. Now the key is for me to continue to do it. LOL Love the Honest Guys I tell everyone to give you a try. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world, you are adding to the light of the world. It's just sometimes I feel like my head may explode if I don't open my eyes when I go into meditation and imagine the pictures with you, I don't know why. My other thing is that I wish that I can last for more than 5 minutes with you without sleeping ... ;)

+Anas Alwash I had the experience of falling asleep, too, but still found meditation beneficial :) I suppose my body knew what it wanted :)

I found this video today. I decided to listen to it in the bathroom. The only place I can be alone from my quarantined family. Mid way of the video I began to sob. I've had depression for most of my life but never got help with it cause I never thought it was a big deal, family very big dealing with feelings without anyone's help (makes us seem weaker). I realized recently that it effects my relationships and its been harder to deal with, like sinking into a pool of mud while trying to keep clean. Thank you for making this video, I'm going to seek a therapist as soon as I possibly can. For the mean time I am thankful for you and your videos.

You Guys are changing the World! This has to be one of your Top meditations. A gift to so many people around the world. I listened to it while in my nightly candlelit bath and it has done wonders to release all the cares, the depression, the despair of the day. THANK YOU and I hope you keep doing these types of mediation that help people who are depressed o in despair, or just simply going through a hard time. I would like to support you in any way I can - I think I shall go to your website to see if I can actually purchase this one so I can listen to it on my iphone as I go to sleep. Big Big Hug to THG's.... ;-)) MaryAnne

Awesome! I have been struggling with depression on-off for five years and this was so helpful. The music was incredible, I love the language in the words to it (well, I already know Siân writes fantastically, good job getting her to work for you! :D), the voice was wonderfully calming... everything about this rocks.
