Do you tend to avoid thinking about difficult emotions or memories? Have you heard it’s unhealthy to just “stuff down” all the hard things? In this video, I’ll present a helpful strategy to use in order to slowly and deliberately work on distressing emotions and memories. And it’s a resource that trauma therapists use all the time to help people.
PTSD and Trauma can create overwhelming feelings. The container method is a way to slow down the processing of them until you are in a safe place. It's often used with other trauma-healing approaches like EMDR, CBT, or other forms of therapy.

In therapy I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systems Theory, positive psychology, and a bio-psycho-social approach to treating mental illness and other challenges we all face in life. The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources. Many of them come from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, especially the work of Steven Hayes, Jason Luoma, and Russ Harris. The sections on stress and the mind-body connection derive from the work of Stephen Porges (the Polyvagal theory), Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing) Francine Shapiro (EMDR), and Bessel Van Der Kolk. I also rely heavily on the work of the Arbinger institute for my overall understanding of our ability to choose our life's direction.
And deeper than all of that, the Gospel of Jesus Christ orients my personal worldview and sense of security, peace, hope, and love www.churchofjesuschrist.org/c...

I was scared to use the key as I knew I’d most likely lose it 🤪 but I decided to imagine myself locking and unlocking it with my finger print. Emma, just to remind you, you truly are a blessing ❤

I love this excercise. I used a heavy-duty industrial dumpster with a mechanical trashshute with heavy lids that open or close with a remote controller.

I was diagnosed so many mental disorders and it was all because of the combinations of illicit and illegal and addictive Pharmaceuticals all together in one day every day for decades that would drive anybody crazy .I'm so glad I almost have 5 years clean and sober and no mental disorders.ty

I feel like I've kept the traumatic memories locked up tight for years.. I've subconiously done this, but I am terrified to open it.

I'm scared too, it's alright. I'm terrified of my own memories, triggers-the physical and mental discomforts that come along with them. But I also think we can be brave. You, me, all of us. I've already decided that I'm willing to do whatever it takes to feel like my old self again. You can do this. I believe you can do this, because you're never alone. None of us here are.

I don't know who I will be without my trauma because it started when I was a child. I created a new, careless happier version of me partially through meditation, and spiritual practice. Now I somehow circled back to old patterns, and anxiety is eating me alive. Like it was long suppressed.

It will eventually come to the surface im dealing with it too growing but at the same time healing, I am not my trauma nor does it define whom I am , it is however a challenge going through this ,

I don't think it's weird. It was one of my thoughts, like a stainless steel capsule that gets inserted into a fitted hole to be sealed up.
