I'm new here,I have been through and love your content already. I know it's not the same, I fly a lot in MSFS(hopefully one day in real-life), I often practice approach and landing. One thing I observed is that I keep over correcting my pitch and/or roll, because of which I'm either not on center-line and/or I'm too low/ high. I'd love to hear your input!
@GuidoWarnecke7 ай бұрын
Thank you for visiting my channel - welcome! Scroll through the videos, you may find a lot of useful things. If dine correctly, the sim is a great tool! I use Xplane 11 sometime to brush up on procedures or to familiarize with new airports. (I am have a MacBook, so no MSFS). Over correction: a common problem. We call this POI, pilot induced oscillation. Too much movement on the controls. Example: if you see that the aircraft will be to the right of the localizer, do a very light correction to the left and give the aircraft time to correct. Otherwise you end up with s- curves tight and left. Same goes for the glide slope. If you are slightly below, make a small correction upward ms and give the aircraft time. You can also use the GPS to assist. You can read your actual track flown on the GPS. If the inbound course on the localized is 262 degrees and your GPS shows you a track of 258 degrees, do a slight correction to the right, Same goes for the glide slope. Check your ground speed. The rule of thumb for a typical descent rate is ground speed x 5. At a ground speed of 120 knots you need 600ft/min descent rate. Make small corrections. Try this out and let me know how it works. Happy Landings Capt. Guido Please consider subscribing to my channel. It helps a lot. Thank you!

Hi Guido, would you use aerodynamic braking on smaller aircraft, like Cherokees for example? Thanks for sharing your amazing adventures!
@GuidoWarnecke3 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely! Brakes in small aircraft are not designed to take hard forces. Also there is the risk to lock up a tire when using brakes at high speed (the wing still produces lift). Different in jets where you want to get the. nose wheel quickly in the ground and apply the brakes. Example here on one of my videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5XamJ2igsx7g8U Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

guido why the red handle wich i assume is the condition lever is not full forward? what a view ur privilegiado...
@GuidoWarnecke3 жыл бұрын
You are correct on that. I have changed my procedure as per check list to have the condition lever full forward (hi position). This is to prevent to have the engine spool down too much during flight idle. @@GuidoWarnecke you should fly Guido over Switzerland on Sunday August 1st and be shocked by several blasts and blasts, because the civil war did not break out in Switzerland, but our national holiday of the Swiss Confederation 😀

Hey Guido, how are you? I have some questions about the tech stop in BGBW, do you had to do any customs / immigration process for a tech stop? Do you used any handler to help you at airport? And is there any slot,. PPR, landing permit or OVF to land in there?
@GuidoWarneckeАй бұрын
No customs required at BGBW. Limited ops times though. No slot required. It is a very weather critical airport. I go there only if visual flight conditions are in the forecast. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Beautiful scenery, that was a long straight in approach, were you following an ILS or all visual?
@GuidoWarnecke3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes the track line from Goose Bay, Canada is almost "direct" to the final approach runway 06. It was all visual. There are instrument approaches available. Due to high terrain, these are quite complex. They also have a very high missed approach minimum. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Capt. G, excellent video as always. Always learning from you. Do you always land 06 here despite the wind? I know the is high terrain on the 24 approach but the R/T indicated another aircraft landing 24 ahead of you. Best Kofi
@GuidoWarnecke3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Kofi. Most of the times, winds favor 06. I use aircraft limitation as the factor which runway to use. 10 knots tailwind is typically acceptable. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Greetings Guido! How does flying a caravan compared to a 172? Always curious and have been told that it handles very forgivingly.
@GuidoWarnecke3 жыл бұрын
It handles like a Big C172. the engine handling is actually simpler than in a 172. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Question: don't you have to wear those orange immersion suits when flying over the artic with single engine aircraft?
@GuidoWarnecke3 жыл бұрын
Hi Franco, I have to keep them in reach. Chances of survival are almost zero, with or without the immersion suit. One who does not accept this should not do ferry flights. I have them in reach behind the seat. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

@@GuidoWarnecke “Yes wear the suit - then they will find your body”. And old man told a friend of mine exactly that when crossing a glacier water river with a wooden boat.

I love, but don't understand, the PT-6 prop sounds during post landing taxi. Maybe you could let us hear cockpit sounds one time during taxi.
@GuidoWarnecke3 жыл бұрын
On the ground you have the possibility to control the propeller blade angle with the throttle. Pulling the throttle backwards over a stop. Does not work in flight. This is called "beta" range. You can slow down the aircraft without using the brakes. The propeller blade angle change causes these distinct changes of the noise. Thanks for you comment and for watching my videos in such great detail. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

@@GuidoWarnecke I had a jump ride in a Dash-7 once. Just can't get enough of that prop sound.

Can you do the crossing from Canada to Greenland and Iceland all VFR??
@GuidoWarnecke3 жыл бұрын
Hi Pablo, yes you could, but it is not advisable. The class A airspace starts at FL070 over the North Atlantic, so you would have to fly very low. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
