Gonna go out on a limb and say, if it wasn't for Chuck Berry, most of us would have never picked up a guitar. He was the guy who turned The Blues into Rock n Roll

I remember watching this version of Johnny B Goode, and was instantly blown away! Bruce and the E street band just have that power and absolute coolness together, and then you have Chuck Berry for his most famous song… one of the best live performances👌

We can all thank Marty McFly, aka Calvin Klein for this music. Had he not gone back in time, taken out Biff, then stepped up when Marvin hurt his hand, this world would be a different place and we wouldn’t have Rock and Roll. So give credit where credit is due. “I guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet, but your kids are going to love it.”

I went to see Chuck Berry many times. I am 75 years old. You never knew what show you would get. He did not have a band, he picked up local musicians. One show in Houston he only had a bass player, another time only a drummer. He would fly into a city, rent a car and drive himself to the gig. Musicians locals were always leery because he would underpay or not pay at the people he hired. But he always was great on stage.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Some 20 miles north of San Francisco (Mill Valley) there was a club Sweetwater, they had live music on the week ends. On Sunday afternoon in the late eigthies my girl friend and I decided to go, Clarence Clemons was playing, we had no idea, what a treat. He lived in this area at that time, or his mother did. He was not with any E street Band members, I think some local musicians.

That song still gets the juices flowing , it’s the reason I picked up a guitar, dad was in a band from 68-98 and watching him play Johnny be Goode was what made me start playing and I still get excited each time I hear it or play it , how cools the respect from Bruce 🎸
Such a fun song to play ! Thank you Chuck Berry for your music 🎶 🎸! Thanks Michael for sharing!

I now understand what CAGED means, which helps in many ways, obviously. I wanted to dive right into the Jerry Primer, but I found out how undereducated i am, so I’m starting right at the bottom. I think that will be best! Thanks Michael!

Anyone interested in a deeper look at the E Street Band, here are three worthy clips with three different editions of the band: -- Detroit Medley - 1980: A master class in the ensemble band essentials of finding your space. Every member is a master here. Each part finds their own voice and spot to fill. This is what years of long bar band sets does to a band, they breathe as a unit. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fH-TqICjapWbsNU -- Because The Night - 2016: The band is amazing, but this is Nils Lofgren's showcase for a solo that builds and burns and throws off a lot of sparks. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oni0p513nN50Y7M -- You Never Can Tell - 2013: Bruce and the fans often try to stump the band. But they can't because the band can figure anything out that Bruce wants to do. Here, they figure out a song they haven't played in many years. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gl6npGB8jax6h8k

You just have to do Bruce + ESB - Thundercrack live at the Ahmanson Theatre 1973. I was raised on Bruce, seen him more than 10 times and have shook his hand. BUT this was before my time and I'd love to see this type of performance from the band again, it's organic yet tight. Probably up there with my favourite live performances EVER!

This clip is cool. But here’s a bit of trivia you may not know. I don’t know if this particular clip was edited but, The band many years later in interviews said this was probably their worst performance. Chuck was changing Keys arbitrarily throughout songs and they had a hard time following him. He was notorious for doing this😮😮. A cool get together nevertheless..
