Dave! You have given me the best parenting tip ever! Since the boys were so docile and easy to manage later in the day (they were pretty much sleep-walking), I think we need to get them up with the farmers every day. I mean, I'm going to suggest to my wife that she gets them up at that hour every day...😳🤪

Thank you John! Neither will dad, but the part I'll remember the most is getting off of work, throwing the boys in the truck, driving straight down, pitching a new tent after dark, and getting about 45 min of sleep, LOL!

Thanks Dana! Tired dad as well! I was really proud of the boys, they were the youngest by far on the boat and had never fished like that, but got used to the currents and the hook set, and ended up doing really well.

You should definitely check it out. $125 for a full day Gulf Stream trip -- you can't beat the price, and a full cooler of meat!

I've only deep sea fished once. It was off the coast of Florida. We didn't catch anything and we all got sick. Looks like you had much better success. What a great experience for your boys. I bet they will remember it.

They were SO delicious, Mike! You definitely need to have them sometime. And yeah, we were packed in pretty good -- the currents were pretty strong so they had us all fish on the same side to prevent lines going under the boat.

Thank you James!!! We were definitely ripping those lips so hard, I think those fish realized who they were up against, LOL! It was a really fun trip. I've been on other boats that had a pot of biggest catch, but they didn't do it on this trip. The boat was going for Black Sea Bass, Snapper, and Triggerfish, and that's exactly what we caught!

Awesome trip Randy, haven’t been on a party boat in 10 or 12 years. Used to go out of Portland ME a lot after Cod and Haddock but never been to the Gulfstream, we would motor out for about 3 hours to get to Jeffries Ledge and fish for about 4 hours before we’d motor back . Add the 2 hour drive to and from Portland made for a long day but never came home empty handed. Questions: how long of a drive is it from Philly to the OBX and how long do you motor to get to the Gulfstream ? Never had triggerfish before. WHAT ?!? No s’mores ? Yeah right Dad. Have a good weekend guys.

Haha, Don! Dad wanted to go to bed, but he came through with those s’mores! The trip you mentioned sounds long, but tons of fun and a good way to put some meat in the fridge or freezer. In perfect conditions, I can make the Philly/OBX trip in 6 hours. I actually enjoy the drive, we go down through DE, MD, and VA and it’s pretty country. Maybe not as beautiful as it is near you, but it’s a nice change of scenery for me. It was about a 2hr steam out to the Gulf Stream on this trip, but about 30-40 minutes of that was navigating the sound. Once out in the open water the trip wasn’t too bad. Definitely one we plan to do again. 🎣🍽
