Im going to get one of these after the holidays. I probably won't change the module because I'm not into that sort of thing and won't get an optic because I'm not into that sort of thing either. I'm just glad that there is a reliable Glock type pistol with a 1911 grip angle. That's all that I've been waiting for.

Thumbs up! A really nice and well execute collaboration between Ruger and Magpul. Love the Magpul design language. This gun will be very successful. How great it is to see the US gun industry doing this kind of amazing work!

Good stuff, gents! There seem to be glowing reviews across the board on the "Gluger" so far. It's already completely sold out on the PSA website. I suspect that Ruger will soon be able to get it on the California roster (I just saw that the LCP was added), and it will almost certainly sell like hotcakes in CA (bear in mind that Gen3 Glocks are the only Glocks on the CA roster). I live in CA and mostly carry a Gen3 G19 with just irons, but I would love to buy the RXM so that I can have a Glock-style pistol for dot training and as a possible carry option. I also like that the Ruger components for it are made in the next state over! Prescott in particular is a great community, so I'm happy to contribute to their economy through a gun purchase!

Also worth mentioning that the non-shooting public already seems to perceive the Glock as a type of gun more than a brand of gun. In the US, "Glock" has seemingly become as synonymous with "pistol" as "Kleenex" has with "tissue."

Great review . I am not a Glock fan, but I sure would like to try one of these out.

With a 1911 grip angle it trounces the Glock hands down. The red dot mounting system beats it for direct mounting. Flat trigger beats it. Steel sights and tritium front sight beats the Glock. Contoured slide beats the blocky Glock. NO CONTEST AT ALL! Ruger RXM WINS!!!
@ThePoorBoy11 күн бұрын
If the RXM proves to be just as reliable as a Glock, it could quickly become the preferred "Glock," especially in the US.

Ruger and Magpul are my two favorite firearms related companies! What excites me about this is the potential for options and future collaboration. That said, it’s going to take some additional offerings to get me to switch from my current G19 Gen 5 and G43x MOS EDC. I would really like to see a stainless steel slide with a matte, subdued finish (some of Ruger’s slide finishes are not great). I would also like the option for a manual safety, 1911 style. As I get older (I’m 60) I like the option of additional safety when I handle my pistols.

I would like to see Ruger come back out with a newer p series type pistol. The p89 and p90 pistols are still reliable, durable at an affordable price.

So when does the 40, 45, 10mm offering occur? The Red Dot variety of optic mounting footprints is something that will copied.

All three of those calibers added up in sales would not equal the 9mm sales,
@Majeskty10 күн бұрын
@ Yup, it is a very easy shooting round and most common offering in any line up because of this, plus number of rounds in the magazine. Just thinking of flavors to the masses someone bound to ask.
@Brett23510 күн бұрын
Other than the size of the bullet none of those calibers offer anything more than 9mm in a self defense handgun. For bear maybe but that's debatable. The 9mm is the gold standard for self defense carry.

Incorrect about what the market demands. Missing point on serialized Modular Controls, very innovative and contrast with grey grip on purpose, everyone will be looming for new mosules and they only cost around $30 for stock replacement, literally the price of a Magpul ar grip. Not appealing to you, but probably appealing to millions of us. Let's see.

I find it baffling that this entire discussion fails to acknowledge a fundamental issue: Ruger, long celebrated for innovating original, high-quality firearms such as the Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, Redhawk, Super Redhawk, and many more has released the RXM in December 2024, which is nothing more than a Glock 19 Gen 3 clone, arriving at a time when Glock itself has moved forward to the Gen 5. Clearly, the expiring patents on the Gen 3 model have paved the way for such imitations, but why would a reputable manufacturer resort to replicating an older design instead of pushing boundaries and delivering something truly pioneering? Moreover, the RXM’s mismatched two-tone finish is aesthetically unappealing and does not reflect the standard of excellence that one typically associates with Ruger. Instead of forging a genuine game-changer, Ruger and Magpul have seemingly settled for a derivative product that struggles to justify its existence in a marketplace that demands innovation, not a reheated version of a decades-old concept.

The RXM is already completely sold out on the PSA website. Ruger will be able to get it on the CA roster too, where it's almost certainly going to sell like hotcakes. This is a sound business move. The "Glock platform" is now a "platform" just as the 1911, AR, and AK now are. Is Stacatto not "innovative" because they took the 1911 platform and gave the market what it wanted in a 1911? Is BCM not "innovative" because they took the AR platform and made a bombproof AR that's more affordable than Daniel Defense?
@JR15A26 күн бұрын
What are you talking about? If Ruger (or Glock, for that matter) had done this 8-10 years ago, they probably would have won the US military MHS contract instead of Sig with the (barf) P320. How much further do you really think boundaries can be pushed? It sounds like you're missing the whole point of this project.
@ajac456 күн бұрын
@@JR15A2 So Ruger could have pulled off this unoriginal stunt a decade ago, without Glock’s Gen 3 design as their blueprint? That notion is as absurd as pretending a tired knockoff is groundbreaking.
@ajac456 күн бұрын
@@ThePoorBoy Comparing the RXM’s cheap mimicry of a decades-old Glock design to iconic platforms like the 1911 or AR is laughable. Those established models evolved over time, incorporating meaningful improvements. The RXM doesn’t bring innovation; it merely rehashes familiar mechanics and slaps on a shabby finish. Selling out online or catering to one restrictive state’s roster is no mark of brilliance-just evidence that some will settle for warmed-over leftovers.
