Carrying a gun should make people feel cautious, not brave.

Carrying a gun doesn’t make me a tough guy. I raised a family, been married to my wife for 45 years, was a diamond salesman ( I usually carried a half million in loose stones and was a target 24/7) was a mason and had the smarts to avoid confrontations with fools to prove a point. The fact I have a 12” member, a bucket of balls, enough hair on my chest to weave an Indian blanket proves I’m a bad ass!

I also feel a lot of people need to be reminded what a gun can do to yourself and others in the blink of an eye and learn to respect that. Whenever you pick up that thing for whatever reason it could potentially lead to a life altering, irreversible event. With great power comes great responsibility.

Agreed. I loved my Ruger P345, but I defiantly wouldn’t pick one up again.

Farm boys like me grow up thinking of guns as tools first. Hunting, varmint & pest control, etc. We grew up with a loaded .22 pump hanging above one doorway & a Win Model 1897 12 ga above the other one. Us boys knew they were there to be used for a specific purpose, nothing more. You are 100% on the money.

Getting my carry permit actually calmed me down. I take more time to do Critical Thinking instead of throwing fist immediately..!

Excellent video. I know firearm instructors, like you, have a hell of a lot of info to put out in a very short time to students. But a video exactly like this should be incorporated into training whenever possible. At least to newer shooters. Why? Because out of control egos have killed more people than all the guns in the world. Not an easy task trying to teach people self control. But it has to start somewhere!

In my previous job as an autopsy assistant i helped in an autopsy where ego and a gun got a man killed

Good video, I am a 1911 Homer, got a handful of them. Yes I carry a DW, it was my choice to do so. It's just a matter of preference. Only draw to defend. Ego's like that are small minded, & need better guidance!

Your best possible outcome is when your firearm collects dust. They are just a tool just like what’s in a toolbox. Nothing more.

Absolutely agree with all you said, 100%. I must be an oddball. When I'm considering a gun I first look for videos where the guy doesn't like it. I'd rather hear that stuff first.

Crazy how tribal people are with brands...the Chevy vs Ford...PS vs Xbox mentality seems to have crossed over into firearms somewhat. I was at the range and a guy asked how I liked my 'relic pistol'. He assumed it was a 1911 when it is actually a Stacatto 2011, but we exchanged words and I let him know 1911s are just as relevant today as they were back in the day and I'd take a nicely set-up 1911 over pretty much anything else.
