Omg you're right I remember that.... who was it though?? It was a big thing when it happened I remember feeling awful. I remember he read the story about it. He was at work and kid was home with wife and he got home to ambulance... and after they came home from hospital they had to clean up the floor and all the blood. And they eventually divorced I think. Absolutely awful I cant imagine. I know I had to keep pausing and coming back to it. It was really hard to listen to all the way through. I have to figure this out. I hope they're doing ok.

@onkelpappkov2666
@onkelpappkov2666 3 жыл бұрын
This is actually why I appreciate this sort of PSA. First thing you think is: How can people be so dumb? Then you realize how horrible the outcome is and how easily it can happen. And you realize that putting magnets on lips, tongue and septum to fake a piercing and imitate adults makes a buncha sense. I stared straight into the sun for several seconds when I was a kid, thinking it would give me solar power and I resisted the pain because I wanted to be a real man and real men don't give up. I consider myself a highly intelligent child (now a slightly dumber adult). I don't know Tide Pods but I bet they have a polymer wrapping that seals the detergent in, so it doesn't taste like death. We're making fun of US kids eating Tide Pods but, let's be real, children everywhere are gullible as fuck and since you as a parent would never think of such a thing, it's good that someone tells you. Like when reversing your car, make sure your daughter is not hiding under it playing hide and seek. Sounds so obvious but would you actively think of it? So hail to the PSAs.

There are actually quite a few kids who’ve died doing that, as silly as the video is. I think there were a few lawsuits against IKEA because they had a dresser design that was especially easy for kids to tip over on themselves and several kids died because of that one dresser. So yeah, if you’re putting a dresser in your kid’s room, make sure to put it in front of a stud in your wall and anchor it to the stud

@@sirgreyspear Exactly! And then this is contrasted with the water, which is necessary to survive, making the whole thing a metaphor for growing up in an increasingly complex world. It highlights the inner conflict between taking responsibility for your own life and survival, portrayed by the act of drinking, while at the same time illustrating how that responsibility can become overwhelming and can be suffocating, no drowning, our desire for freedom. All of this wrapped in a seemingly trivial action, symbolizing the significant in the mundane, in itself a profound metaphor for postmodernism. The Zeitgeist destilled into a single glass of water, if you will!
