This is inspirational, that butterfly spent a third of her life with this guy, put that in perspective to a humans life, lets consider we live until we're 80 years old, that would be 26-27 years close to someone you care. Not putting aside the Pets we are used to that in most cases spend their entire life right there, looking out for us like dogs and cats. If you read this Message I wish you the best !

It's really sad that a butterfly lives for only 1-2 weeks

and this species has a massive migration, so some butterflies spend their their life flying from north america to mexico, and then their children fly back. they don't live long enough to ever make the trip twice, even a return trip, but they all know where to go in this one forest in oaxaca and they fly there from all over the us and canda at the same time, like the directions are built into their DNA. it's pretty amazing look up "monarchy butterfly migration oaxaca" to see footage or learn more it's pretty amazing.

When I was little, the same thing happened to me too. I am glad to know that I am not the only person in the world to have had a butterfly as a friend. He was with me his last 2 days. It was a yellow butterfly and it made me very happy.
