If somebody never responds to you when you text them, but theyre on their phone non-stop when youre face-to-face: the simple and beautiful truth is thay youre truly not important to them. Some people dont like to believe that, but it makes your life exponentially less stressful when you drop the "friend who never texts back" from your group and only associate with people who treat you with respect.

I just forget to text everybody. I'm on my phone alot but when I see the text I'm like "I'll respond later because ___" then I completely blank and reset my phone or clear my notifications because I don't like them too cluttered. I genuinely feel bad because I don't want it to seem like I don't care

People overthink this way too hard. I have lots of friends who forget to text me back and I do the same thing. Still we love each other's company when we meet and we have no drama over not answering messages sometimes.

I friend showed me how to do it. When I grabbed my phone to type something, she just stopped in the middle of her sentence and said: I let you finish this. I immediately put down the phone. Glory story. Been using her technique when I am in similar situations.
