He broke the alliance we had with France in 1936 which was a massive contributing factor to german victory in 1940. Ignored multiple invasion warnings too. Refused to let the French troops enter belgium which allowed for their encirclement at Dunkirk. Played friends with the Germans during the occupation. His attempt to return to the throne after the war almost broke our country apart. Trash king.

11:42 i looked this up because coincidentally i was also doing a historical belgium game and apparently the german ai never does the barbarossa focus if it borders any country it is at war with, so if you hold as belgium france yugoslavia austria poland netherlands denmark or luxembourg they never go in on the soviets, but the other axis nations can will still declare if they get a wargoal fron their tree (in my game romania declared on the soviets from their fascist tree and germany collapsed because they had nothing ready for the east lol)

Needs to be a mechanic where once a tile with bunkers is take it needs to be repaired before it can be used by the enemy. Would make counter attacks after getting pushed feel more fair. And it loses a lot of use after it's been pushed once, unless you can get some breathing room

if you ignore the tile bordering ger and lux, you can easily hold in the base game. in fact you hold so well you have to prevent germans+italians punching through lyon. basic garris on fallback line from switzerland along the river, through lyon and a few tiles south down the river will hold them. add Aa tanks to them over time. it takes 48 AA tank space marines divs (yeah, i know) on a fallback line on all of your border (minus the one i mentioned) and at least lv7 land forts and some naval forts on antwerpen. Germany is somehow able to punch through a river crossing & lvl land forts without the naval forts...with poor supply. when Germany loses 3m against to your 8k, they eventually go for ussr and you walk in to Berlin and Milan with the Allies. Manpower is the main problem. Go limited conscription asap. No local autonomy in your colonies. Medic support. Have PP ready to go all adults serve when you go to war. Your 48 divs will be undermanned at the start of war but you'll have most equipment. Also, set all civvies be ready for repair. Chill General gave me the idea the other day and it took me a few tries. That land tile and no-navals on antwerpen got me for a while.

If you get around to Austria, I just want to say that it can be hard to really grow without going monarchist since your entire nation is basically just on anti-fascism and inflating your ranks to delay Anschluss until you're ready, but they get some ludicrous industry buffs, they get like 45% consumer goods reduction from their industry branch and +50% factory output with some cracked advisors and focuses. Austria-Hungary(monarchist path) can probably be a juggernaut if you can weather the Germans, but otherwise it's probably a good Communist nation for the allies since you will crave the portrait of Karl Marx and the combo of bonuses and advisors just further breaks your industry, although the left democratic branch can also get some of the big buffs. (Also fun fact, despite being a very manpower low but industry high nation, Communist Austria gets frankly broken Militia buffs of +30% to attack and defense. It's not that useful considering you'd rather make space marines, but it's a nice option if you can form the Danubian Confederation)
