They’re also incredibly intelligent creatures. They recognize themselves in a mirror, and have shown self-awareness and conscious emotions. They can problem solve, use tools, hold grudges, and mourn their dead. Elephants have even been witnessed protecting their dead from predators, and going so far as partly burying their dead. They can read man body language, and distinguish differences in human gender, age, and ethnicity purely by the sound of someone’s voice. If the voice belongs to a person who is more likely to pose a threat, the elephants switch into defensive mode. There’s even a documented case of a single elephant trying to mimic human language, learning to closely mimic five words in Korean.

I agree but I wouldn’t call it servanthood. It’s just care and compassion, you don’t have to be a servant to love and care for one-another
@sarahbethsstitching99373 жыл бұрын
Yes they are being Jesus to these elephants and are being servants just as he was to mankind when he was on the earth. Just think if we were all this selfless none of the crazy stuff that is happening would happen
@bparrish5173 жыл бұрын
I knew the word “servanthood” would arouse someone’s sensibilities as it a degree of subjection to a cause other than one’s impliesown. Humans bristle at such a notion because it necessitates downward mobility and that is a level of care and compassion to which we are not inclined. Nevertheless, I’m happy you appreciate the work of these men. Best wishes!

And the grown “orphans” will return to the sanctuary to show off THEIR babies to the keepers! I LOVE THAT! The newly released will return for some reassurance that they need and the keepers will make a big deal when they come back for a visit. The keepers will feed them, water them, let them interact with the other residents, and when the recently released are ready to go, they send them off with much love. Basically telling them “You’re ALWAYS welcome, but you can’t stay.” God save Daphne Sheldrick…. 🙏
