back in the early 2000s insurance companies tried to get shops to use only panel bond..... that didn't last long....

Hey Robert Just wanna say Thank you and Iam very Grateful for your Channel!..Gotta Support My Texas Gente!..For you sharing I wanna share my personal tips I've been using since I'm doing things the poor man's way...I've been using a pump sprayer from harbor freight..the big jug you use for spraying a garden..I fill it with phosphoric acid from home Depot(Metal prep and etch..blue liquid) and I spray the hard to reach areas to clean surface rust. I learned that by myself. Just thought I'd share.

Not too bad in NE Georgia, but a few miles north it's very bad. Western N and S Carolina and E Tennessee, it's really bad. I've been in utility work for 33 years (before Hurricane Andrew) and was in the military for over 18 years and deployed several times. This is one of the worst ever. Thanks for asking. If you get a chance, perhaps you can explain and show how you built your frame fixture for supporting the bodies frame off. As to what points specifically need to be supported to keep from making a taco out of the body. Thanks for the videos you make! They've been a valuable resource for a DIY guy like me

I blended the weld seams on the lower rocker and rear corners when I did my 68 Charger. Going to the paint booth next week.

Enjoyed the video. I am in the process of redoing quarter panels that a hack body shop installed. Do you spray a primer under the VHT epoxy spray? What sealer do you use for the door jam seam? What sealer do you use for the trunk drip rails where you weld the quarter panels? Do you use sealer between the rear deck panel and the quarter panels? That seems like a place for water leaks. Thank you. I will check out more of your videos.

Usually primer over epoxy, I use 3M fast n Firm body sealant. Sorry to hear about the bad shop work....

The white stuff, looks more like seam sealer than panel bond. All the panel bond that I've used is black or dark grey. There are times you need to use panel bond, but that isn't one, of course.

Local Ford dealership introduced me to panel bond and suggested I use it much like they do when I was in a roof replacement project last year after seeing this video I’m really grateful I didn’t take that advice. However I can only imagine the number of vehicles that the local Ford dealershiphas sent back out on the road with this stuff

Gluing composite body panels together, a lot of new vehicles are using composite or aluminum panels now. Yeah gluing steel on steel won't work, I can't even imagine this car in a wreck with that previous work.... definitely could cause a fatality..... Thanks !

I put several roof skins on with panel bond, but I certainly won’t pretend to be an expert. The name panel bond seems to suggest… but if that’s not what it’s meant for, what is it meant for?

Panel bond is a plastic and composite adhesive, if a vehicle repaired with panel bond got into a wreck and there is structural failure in the repaired area causing injury.... dust your suit off and get ready to spend some time in court.... I'm speaking on classic cars, all repairs made on those should involve welding panels in place. Thanks for the comment.

As I sat here watching you go through and explain to remove everything from the body....I realized my bug has all of those issues. Not completely stripped and then apparently blasted,.( Not sure but def no paint on the ol girl), and never had any kind of epoxy applied after so now shes full of surface rust. Rob, do you use .023 or .030 wire ? Are there cases where you need to fluctuate the sizes due to the component-size, location, etc etc

If you are starting out .023 is probably easier and more appropriate to learn on sheet metal, I use .035 for everything up to 1/2'' ( I usually never weld that or above thickness )over that .045. the reasoning, less material waste and more importantly material cost ( multiple spools of wire, tips, change out time, etc.... )

Curious as to why you plug weld all those places where a resistance welder has easy access? Anywhere I can't get tongs the plug weld is great. But where I can, the spot welder is so much faster.

I wouldn't call that crap panel bond, I would call it seam sealer, 3M metal to metal panel bond is legit.
