Tig is great but let’s be honest. Some of the positions we have to get into and some of the fitment discrepancy’s can make it awkward at times.

Absolutely. Doesn't mean TIG should be discredited. In this case, everything was accessible. My first welder was a TIG, but tacking header tubes in place in the V8/RWD-conversion Pontiac Firefly (Chevy Sprint) was nigh impossible with TIG, even with the pedal between my knees - that's when I bought a MIG. Everything has its purpose and application.

Maybe it's just me, but if that were my truck, I'd modify those fenders to actually be usable as steps. lol

Patches, Bubbles and Dollies ... clowns everywhere ... 🤡 I think the classic Mini was put together the same way. Bare metal seams spot welded on the line and painted at the end. Plenty of opportunity for rust to take hold.
