I used to build plow/salt/sand trucks. The spreaders are on the left side and the theory is that they drop the salt/sand in the middle of the road and traffic will disperse it elsewhere. It’s why the driver side of more salt belt vehicles deteriorate first. Just my $.02. Thanks for the quality content. Cheers from Texas (where the salt is in the gulf)

Being British, I had no idea what a '61 Chevy Apache Pickup looked like, So I just googled it............. Erm......... They're not exactly the PRETTIEST 60's Yank vehicle are they, but as it's not my project my opinion doesn't come into it. Hope the rest of the project is full of surprises* for you. (* On an old project car, finding perfectly sound metal is the surprise. Finding yet more unexpected rust is just another normal day in the garage. :D).

I really had my heart set on a 64-66 C10 (flatter glass, smoother hood), but struggled to find one locally. This one fell into my lap, and while it certainly qualifies as Bugly and wasn't exactly what I initially wanted, I have now totally fallen in love with the look.

OK, I do have a good TIG welding tip for you. Don't take my advice on it because I don't own a TIG welder, but at least I left a comment.

Question; During this build, you moved the lower control arm forward to achieve more caster. One pin in frames crossmember locates the shaft, drilling a new hole would be possible but hard, so did you relocate the pin? Only one is needed I believe but curious as it is 3/4” (19mm) forward of OEM position & did this get you, say 5-7 degrees of caster? I know it may not have been in the alignment shop yet, but just wondering. Thanks! Hope you finish it. I am running engine harness inside thru center of firewall to put the PCM in center console between buckets for two people. I don’t want more than two pairs of wet spots on my seats, so only one-the passenger! P.S. Nice large OEM grommet on cab harness for pass-thru. Best of luck! Shop teacher Guy.

Drilling a new hole is a lot easier than you think, just pick up a demming drill, and go up in steps. I did have to beat on the crossmember seam a little for control arm clearance. I did this on my '77 C10 daily driver when I built it years ago, and it is a very worthwhile mod. I don't remember how much caster I got, but I think it's around 5° or 6° with the shims split evenly on the upper arm. Hoping for primer by the end of summer 2021, and paint summer 2022.

Thank you very much. Just tell the young ones learning never stops. Sorry for long comments! You are truly enjoyable to watch. We didn’t have shop, Beta-Max ate that budget! Blessings...

Drivers side is the road side, so more crap is flung onto it from opposing traffic, and that was probably the weather side whe n it was parked.

You do good work on your truck. With that said...why do you TALK...then SPEED UP the most interesting part of your video, the welding, cutting, grinding and patch making??? I for one, would like to see it in regular time!!! Thanks.

Good question. Honestly, the truck videos are me inviting you into my hobby. I set up a time-lapse, and then just work on different parts of the truck as my mental escape. I don't do the truck for video content, I do the truck for my sanity. Sharing what I recorded is the side-effect of my hobby. The instant making these videos becomes "work," my hobby is no longer my hobby; it's a job; it's no longer "escape," and I'm not willing to do that. Cheers! (Good question!)
