This comment is for three videos back, but I was seizing on the floor.....great stuff and you may have a second career at the comedy store, or not. Stick to this stuff. You have a great personality (don’t get carried away) for passing on the details and teaching, you must be an in demand instructor (again, don’t gat carried away). Looking forward to the next.....

Just finished months of work on a 60 cab and couldn't agree with you more! I had a ton of modifications on rockers, cab supports etc, nothing fits!! So glad to be into some chassis work now

New subscriber....love the video. Got to the cheater lens part. I use a cheater lens and sometimes reading glasses if I am welding up close. Trip over every dang thing in the garage because I can't see more than 1 foot in front of my face, but beats cranking the neck back all day long to look thru the bifocals!

If you recorded this in black ‘n white it would be just like a lengthy episode of “Adventures With Bill” from the Red Green Show.🤣🤣 Love to see your work and progress. Can’t wait to see your results. And I agree with your comments about Gibson63. That is one talented guy.

Thanks for sharing. My 2003 Silverado is going into my garage for major nip and tuck. So I have a lot of bodywork to do. I am not looking forward to it because I never did any but can't afford to pay anyone else to do it. I guess whatever hair I have left will be gone by the end of it.

You are correct sir!! These trucks were not even close to being perfect!! Found that out when my buddy worked on my 61 in his body shop?! There were crudely built on a budget back then!!

Great Job ! what do you think of using a full floor instead of piecing all of the different parts together?
@GregWellwood
@GregWellwood 3 жыл бұрын
I looked at that. 1) $$$$, 2) likely poor fitment over now a much larger area, 3) I didn't need it. If the floor was WAY gone, I'd do the whole floor replacement. This truck wasn't bad enough to need that.

Just find one you can afford, and start. Your skills will grow. Tools will come. I learned a TON doing this truck. You're watching me learn a lot of this as I do it.

You can learn a lot by watching a wack of videos, and then just getting in there and figuring it out. That's all I really I do. If I can do it, you can do it.

That's my trailer. I'm the "King Of The Landfill" when I do a dump run in my Squarebody truck pulling a Squarebody trailer, painted AND lowered to match the Squarebody that's pulling it.

Don't be calling this trucks JUNK. They will out live you. And they are still going after 60 years. I believe that new trucks are not going to last 60 years running. Unless you keep it in a climate controlled environment and don't really use it for any work. NEW TRUCKS ARE JUNK.

@V M I have agree with you on the longevity of the vehicles built in the 60’s into the 70’s. Automotive and trucks have crossed a line into what is called “Throw-A-Way” vehicles. Plastic that falls apart in “UV” light, how thin can they order the metal. These were man made, without robots, stamped by dies that were hand finish with a template, not 0.002” fit and finish. Plus 18 gauge virgin steel, not recycled refrigerators & Toyota’s. You have picture a guy with a crew cut, wearing coveralls, tossing these metal parts onto jigs & holding fixtures with out vise grips then adjustments were a fist pound or rubber mallet onto a fixture with tapered metals pins to hold it in place. The line moves! The welding helmets are not “Auto-Darkening” and spot weld settings where not computer controlled amperage, but by the seat of their pants settings and repeating the same patterns +/- 1/2” left or right. Ultimately, after a 3.6hr ride down a moving conveyor line, slag, dust, nuts, screws were left were the fell and painted over by guys in non-air conditioned paint booths only with air moving across the both while they layered two coats of acrylic lacquer, now good to go overhead on that moving conveyor system as they dried and the chassis, frame, engine, trans, diff and tires met for the first time. Air hammers used by guys with “Pop-Eye” forearms, the wiring laying over the engine… Well, you all get the picture! We have parts of film shot during assembly. This all changed in one week, late June 40 years ago, when the TV commercial had the car as the star and followed the ball bearing as it rolled evening over what seemed like every gap, voice over narration, with fit & finish as product. This shook the big 3 auto makers to their core. Just reliving the reality of what we witnessed whether we knew I or not. DK, ASE master tech, retired.
