You hit the nail on the head....when you have the time to do a job right it's always so much better. I find myself rushing half the time and pay the price for it. Great review as always.

Trim coatings rock. I would say they are underrated. They actually make your trim look better for ages and are so easy to use. Nothing compares….

I used the old formulation of Gyeon trim and was impressed. Made mistake of re-coating with open bottle of old product which had thickened and left surface uneven. Just get rid of old unused stuff. I will be re coating with this new formulation this year. Btw it lasted a couple of years on a car kept outside.

I’ve just noticed MOHS it’s SHOW if you look at it the other way around lol. Right on time on the video though. Need to do the trim on my Giulietta and was considering a ceramic coating as a more permanent not leaving dyes solution. Thanks!

Will be interesting to see how well this updated product performs. To date I have not found anything better Gtechniq's C4 Permanent Trim Restorer. Used it on my daily driver just over 2 years back and still looks great for a car that doesn't get garaged overnight.

New trim coating from DIY Detail, new one from Yvan Lacroix. It contains the black dye and can be reapplied, different than ceramic coating a trim, and you can't use either Solutions Finish or any trim restorer.

Thank you for another excellent video, I have been binge watching your channel lately. I have just bought a new car and decided to take care of it myself on regular basis. There are so many products on the market, it is hard to decide what do I need for my starter kit, could you give me some recommendations please? Should I stick with Gyeon, or mix brands? Thank you in advance!
@ForensicDetailing5 ай бұрын
thx maggy this requires long answer. but only you can decide. Gyeon are great shout though, everything they sell is high quality, very desirable, and well branded. They also have a full range. So its a good shout. Gyeon, Koch, Bilt Hamber all top draw stuff.

I watch just about everyone of your videos John, my comment is and isn’t a bit off topic. Are you doing a Q&A soon? I have a question about paint ceramic coating and I don’t understand what is happening with it. How or where so I post question? Should I post in a video that might be old or off topic?

Hi John and all, I have a all black door card, parts of it are sort leather, everytime the MRS gets in the car I get white marks on the door card I’m told from skin contact, would this gyeon trim protector work against these marks coming back once cleaned of course or is there anything else out there?

What I'm hearing is that reapplying trim coatings after a few years can be a pain in the ass, and difficult to get as nice as the first application... thoughts? Also, would you recommend this for new cars, or wait until the plastic starts to fade?
@ForensicDetailing5 ай бұрын
Im not sure mate. Ive not experience that but who knows. they are never a pain to apply though as far as Im concencenred. I recomend it on new car trim yes, thats the time to do it. specially in the arches mate when its all mint.

Thanks for the video Jon. I am starting to get a little cynical about all of these different ceramic coatings. I'd bet a weeks wages that there is almost no difference chemically, to a ceramic coating listed as 'for plastics', to one 'for paint', or one 'for glass' or one for something else. I do think we are being taken advantage of, and I would bet a standard ceramic coating for paint could be used on anything else without any problems. I just get the feeling they are trying to sell us basically the same product four or five times, for four or five different parts of the vehicle, and making four or five times the money from us !!!
@ForensicDetailing5 ай бұрын
Yes but there's not really big price differences. Glass coatings have to be different, tiny amounts of solid if any, most are not ceramic at all. Trim coating yer not sure. You would want more UV filters wouldn't you. Fair point m8 who knows
@haroldflugleman43645 ай бұрын
Can this be used on interior plastics as well? Buttons, rear deck, door card,etc
@ForensicDetailing5 ай бұрын
yes but you just need to be a bit more carefull. the material you are putting down cant easily be removed of lots of surfaces. And really I personally think traditional interior dressings are better for this. stay tuned for video on this
@haroldflugleman43645 ай бұрын
Agreed, but paint on buttons wears over time. Would like to prevent that with a more permanent coating. That's would be ideal to protect it

Kind of related, but if you wanted to restore rubber trim around windows, what would you do? My research so far has gotten me to cerakote wipes or solution finish + ceramic coating like mohs or cquartz. I have a 2y old car which is spotless beside this now grey looking rubber trim from sun and whatever else..
@djmandrick5 ай бұрын
i used a tyre dressing (non slimy). That refurbished the colour and added some moisture back into it. Leave it to soak for a couple of mins then buff off the excess. Worked a treat.
@ForensicDetailing5 ай бұрын
something rich in silicone or oils something for that. rubber dries out and perishes. solution finish really is for faded black plastic to restore the black. cerakote is prolly a better shout. You could try a tire dressing on it. Like the autoglym one.

In your mega reviews you often criticise the poor instructions on some products, but in this review you didn’t appear to refer to the instructions leaflet. Or maybe you’d referred to it before filming to make sure you were using the recommended method in the video. Agree with your general view re great quality of Gyeon products
