So let me get this straight… Men are denigrated when they are not in their children’s lives, protecting them and providing for them, yet somehow when they are in their children’s lives caring for them and instilling worth and integrity they are ostracized. This is what good men do, they do what needs to be done. He knows that the decision will not be liked and she will dislike him for it, though it is the right one for her. W for Dad!

Alot of it my guess why the dad was trying to tell her to wear different clothes, is because not just because he cares about her, it's manly because he can see a picture that she doesn't yet, until she gets older, than she realizes. I just wonder how would she react if her dad was trying to tell her a young guy she's seeing for a relationship isn't worth for her? Be mad at dad for her not to date that certain person? Yet doesn't realize her dad could know his whole family and doesn't like how they act/ treat people, not alone each other?. But am just guessing.

That older girl should’ve been home schooled. If a dude walks down the street with $10k cash in hand thru the ghetto and gets robbed, sure it’s the robber is to blame but anyone living in reality would ask “why are you walking down the street flashing $10k in cash?” And call that dude an idiot. To some extent, we’d all say he brought that upon himself. Why can’t this women accept any accountability whatsoever.

There are decent guys who will be uncomfortable but there will also be guys who see what you are advertising and will make a grab for it. Responsibility is on both sides. Ladies, don't advertise your wares and then get upset with any takers. Guys, treat all girls with respect, the way you would want other guys to treat your sister or your daughter.

Growing up my parents taught me that when I leave the house I am representing my family. So if I’m going out in dirty clothes, not showered or acting a fool in public it would bring shame on our family. Which is why I agree with the dad. There needs to be a rule with what’s acceptable to wear as some of you take it a bit far. More material in a face cloth then some of the clothes your wearing.

Dad is right. When I was 14 I sewed a denim mini skirt (yup super short - I thought sexy..) walked thru the lounge on the way out the door and heard "huh..NO...change", which obviously I did but I took the skirt in my bag and changed back for the disco (down the road behind a tree). It was the worst decision I ever made as I was so uncomfortable I couldn't even sit down as it was so short. The lesson I learnt that day and that I not only still live now but I have taught my son & daughter is that if nana or poppa would be embarrassed by your outfit - don't wear it. Personally I have always played sports etc and I seem quite able to do so in a pair of shorts and tshirt or singlet - I don't want to be blinded at the beach by dental floss up the bum, or walk around the supermarket behind some girl who's shorts are so short you can see her ass cheeks hanging out the bottam or some women's breasts hanging out of a bra top...and my son was always told that any girl he brings home needs to have proper clothes on, if I can see her breakfast when she bends over in that skirt she is NOT welcome in my home. What happened to dignity. There is no way I would go visit my nana in the rest home in a bra top & skin tight shorts pulled all the way up my ass - now at home in front of my partner sure, but that's because all this is for his eyes not a random stranger's. PS. My dad raised me alone, the man had no problem buying me tampons & sanitary pads but also taught me how to change the oil in my car... all he ever asked is that I dress appropriately and to be aware that I represented my family everywhere I went and I wanted to bring pride & respect to my family. You can look sexy and attract men just fine without showing all your goodies...

Yes! Nothing wrong with dressing to be beautiful! The problem is the tastelessness and lack of respect for others. As the oldest of four sisters, my thoughts are on them when I dress, not the sexuality of men. I know I don’t want to wear anything that causes their innocent minds to ask questions or respect me less, and it’s a way better objective than being a slave to men’s fluctuating sexual feelings and fetishes. I won’t bow down to this stupid transgender movement and make myself a slave to men’s sexual feelings and neither will I be enslaved to their feelings about my clothing choices.

Nice to know some people still have standards. My cousin's wife used to be a gym instructor, then she had kids so became a full time mum. Still maintained her figure so fullest respect to her but she had a MASSIVE problem with showing it off sometimes. During my uncle's funeral she wore a black skirt so high I honestly thought it was going to flap up like some cartoonish sunblind. It was totally inappropriate and can only imagine the stress my cousin had to go through trying to stop her wearing that.

As a female...I dress respectably anywhere because I have SELF respect. I never wear leggings to a gym or in public because they are in no way appropriate covering in public in any scenario regardless of societal acceptance of leggings being worn around everywhere. Cover up because you respect yourself. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, just try to have a little class. I wear joggers, basketball shorts, long tennis skirts (still cute!), and t-shirts to the gym. I've somehow managed to get dressed and workout without once shoving my ass, midriff, and tits in anyone's face 🤷🏻‍♀️

It is actually not a bad thing to be attracted to women, because it's imprinted in your DNA by thousands of years of evolution of the human brain.... is very healthy for the brain, otherwise, humans would turn to robots or cyborgs or whatever nonsense.... as Sam Vaknin says if a man is in the presence of another woman, his body releases the hormones even if the woman is ugly or unattractive and even if he feels no attraction to her. So it means social interaction including attraction to the other gender is healthy for the brain and body, it creates creativity in your mind. but you have a choice to enjoy the presence of another gender, which causes you to release rightfully the hormones of pleasure, love, creativity...serotonin, oxytocin, etc but yet be very gentle, polite, and rational and show respect to another gender.

Dad gets the W here. Daughters need to realize they are helping push this "objectify me!" BS. The gym i go to, a lady literally comes in, stretches, does her core/ab workout in the middle of the machines. And it's not a quick one, it's really an hour long circuit that includes the glutes machine. She wears a crop top and tight leggings, very little body fat to her. Meanwhile, i go to the gym in a sweat shirt (a top that is lined with another fabric to help cause more heat/ sweat), a t shirt, leggings that come to my knees, and a pair of sweats/pj pants. I don't want anyone looking at me (but whatever if anyone does), I'm usually in there with my hubby, who is very built and I'm POSITIVE people look at him. Hard not to. Dad is trying to protect and guide his girls through a time that is very getting and he still has SOME influence. Yes, Jesus tells us to hold ourselves accountable for our thoughts. We are also told to hold ourselves accountable for our actions. That we should dress modestly so as to not cause others, NOT JUST MEN, to not stumble. So, the daughters need to be aware that the attention they are seeking may cause OTHERS to stumble. Which is also a sin. So... yea, there's that.

Heck when it was time for nail polish and makeup, my mom made it fun. It was like a coming of age thing. We had a whole party for it. Basically, it's a grown woman thing to do nail polish or makeup. Little girls, they should just be little girls. As much as we want to deny it. These things came about to attract attention or to make oneself appear "more attractive". I followed a female fitness influencer for years...for fitness advice, of course. LOL. But that influencer was relatively recently diagnosed with a chronic illness, which caused her body to decay. If you see the clothing she wore to the gym when her body was bangin' vs the clothing she wears to workout in when she's really just trying to rehab her body, the difference in night and day. It shows that she's not wearing painted on leggings or thong booty shorts for the functionality, but to show off her body. Though as an influencer her money comes from showing off her body, a baggy shirt and running shorts (you know, what men wear) are just as functional if not more functional at a cheaper price than all the hoochie mama wear these gym 304s be wearing.

@@nicholask8657 Yes, it is a made up problem... partly. There is nothing special necessary to make women's work out clothes, but if you go to any department store's women's active wear section, you'll see the options companies are making and selling are mostly inappropriate (in my opinion). You're right that we could go shop in the men's section and buy some basketball shorts - those would be perfectly functional and modest. But tbh, even with as little as I care about fashion, I wouldn't want to shop in the men's section (I mean, guys wouldn't shop in the women's section, even for a t-shirt, which should be gender-neutral). They used to make basketball shorts for girls - I owned a pair as a kid - but I don't think they do anymore. As a 65 year-old man, I was at the gym working out on a treamill and was 10 minutes into a 45 minute program, when two 15 to 18 year old teenie boppers came in wearing booty shorts and athletic bras. They chose treadmills one row in front of me. They postions themselves inbetween my ballgame ceiling mounted TV and me. To the right I was watching a TV with a sports show for when the ballgame had a commercial. These two teens were about 10 minutes on the treadmills when one turned around and looked at me. Then she leaned over and whispered to the other teen. The second turned around and glared at me. Five miniutes later a teen turned around, glared at me and went to the front desk. A male desk clerk came over and stood on the treadmill next to me and asked what I was doing. I told him that I was working out, and asked what he was doing? He told me that the teens were creaped out about me staring at them. I told him to look at my timer and look at theirs, I had been here 10 minutes longer than them and they got between me and my ballgame. I asked him whether they enforced dress code or not. He said yes they did enforce their code. I asked him to evict them for dress code violation. He did so, and they glared at me as they left in a huff. I laughed at them very loudly as they left. I do not want to see your butt cheecks while I am working out. Save that outfit for the beach teenie bopper.

What you choose to wear *IS* a form of communication. You're responsible for the message you send, and this is the only part you can control. Other people are responsible for their own actions and thoughts, but your influence on others, while limited, still remains your responsibility. And Big Sis really ought to read her bible for real this time, it has heaps to say about modesty and not leading others to sin. She needs to worry about the log in her own eye.

I am a happily married man (for over 40 years). I was in the grocery store the other day and there was a girl wearing a skin-tight outfit. If it had been skin-coloured, she could have easily been naked. How can you not look when someone’s standing in front of you dressed like that? I’m looking at the ceiling, the floor, left and right, and to be honest, I was extremely uncomfortable. But can I say, “Excuse me, but you’re making me uncomfortable.” ? Nope. But if I happen to glance at her, she can go off on me like I’m a predator. It’s nuts. Way too many double standards.

It's like having a big red target on top of the girl for predators to creep on. I hate the argument that we are the problem because we're objectifying them. Do they think pedo's and creeps care about that? They're not going to just disappear because they're mad about it. It's called facing reality, and doing everything you can to protect yourself if possible . Sometimes it doesn't work, but it's better than not trying at all. Real men are going to ignore all that bullshit. They will revel in the opposition they get as a chance to stomp on anyone trying to get between them and their family. My kids have always told people that their dad will fuck them up if they step wrong. My two oldest witnessed a guy exposing himself to another kid and the cops put him in protective custody, then came to me to tell me not to do anything to him before I knew anything that had happened. It should be that way with ALL fathers. People should be scared shitless to do anything to PROPER girls. Fathers are supposed to be OVERprotective of their baby girls to the point that they make the Punisher look like a pacifist. A LADY should be able to count on a GENTLEMAN to protect her regardless of relationship. Since the 1920s, there's been a steady decline in traditional values that evolved over thousands of years. Society is being torn asunder and it is ripe for evil to perpetrated on a grand scale again.

Thank You! I hate it when people tell you "don't judge someone by what they are wearing". What you are wearing is a reflection of you, and who you are as a person. You know, your personality. Like you said "It's a statement". The clothes you wear is a statement on your personality. It tells me everything I need to know about you based on the clothes you choose to wear. A person who is happy and bubbly more often that not, won't be wearing black clothes because it doesn't gel with the bright personality, and would rather wear colourful clothes. There are exceptions to the rule (I am a bubbly person, but prefer skater/grunge clothes), but on a stereotypical level, you are what you wear.

To test the idea, consider someone walking down the street with skin tight pants and the word "JUICY" emblazoned on their butt. It has to be for other people or it's for themselves (which seems self-objectifying or autoerotic). The idea that your presentation is ONLY for yourself also seemed tested by tattoos. If they were for yourself, you'd get them in locations where you could see them (which might require in some cases upside-down text or mirror writing to be able to read it, right?). If people get tattoos that they can't see, that would seem proof that presentation includes conveying messages to others.

I pray you’re well my love, if you’re Christian, your religion teaches the same, that women should cover their adornments because they’re worth more than just being out on display. In fact (of you don’t mind me saying, for the onlookers) it says in Corinthians, that the women should shave their hair if they don’t cover. Here’s what Islam says:

It's appalling. She's made it very obvious for the whole world to see that she doesn't respect her father and it's not like she's enlightened too. Her father was just trying to protect his daughter.

My single father was ALWAYS on top of my appearance. As a now 30 year old woman, I could not be more grateful. He molded my mind to BE STRONG 💪🏾 and not need to show my body to feel like I count. I get complimented quite often due to the sheer CONTRAST between me and most women who dress to show-off.

I’m a bit older than you but look in my 30s and also dress more tactfully…I have found besides compliments I also get RESPECT-people hold the door etc. I don’t know about you, but I think dressing the way I do is actually empowering and uplifting.

I'm 24 and was raised on the ideology that the way you interact with others is important rather what you wear. You'll be shocked to know there are many women who wear slightly revealing clothes that also have beautiful personalities. In summer it gets hot; I'm going to wear a crop top and shorts. Because at the end of the day, my crop top doesnt define anything about me except I sweat alot

As a young woman in my early twenties who still lives at home, I always try to dress modestly, and if I question the modesty of an outfit, I ask my dad. Is this too short? Too tight? Too revealing in some way? Our dads know how men think. My parents taught me early on the importance of modesty. Yes, men should control their thoughts. But as women, we shouldn’t make it any harder than it already is. Yes it is on them, but we also need to be careful I’m not causing our brothers to stumble.

And furthermore, not bringing the unwanted attention of the unsavory types on ourselves. What so many women fail to grasp is that the gross, creepy men they rail against will see a woman dressed the way they are, and think she’s on their level, therefore they’ll feel all too comfortable looking and even asking for what they already now expect. Like the saying goes: don’t advertise what you aren’t willing to sell. It really is that simple.

I’m really shocked that woman would publicly blast her own father like that… the dad did nothing wrong. She’s clearly an ungrateful child. Lucky she has a dad that cares

That's unthinkable in Asian societies. She's also leading her younger sister astray. She's sacrificing her father and sister for content and clout. She seems very sure of herself.

I’m so sick of this argument. You see girls out on a Friday night practically naked and they moan when the “wrong” type of guy looks at them, yet they clearly dressed like that to get attention from the “right” type of guy (I mean, some are just out for a good time, but they tend not to be the naked ones). It’s a flawed ideal. If you want to make yourself look and feel beautiful, there’s plenty of ways other than walking around in a bra and hot pants

My friends were HS track and field runners and sprinters. They did it all in T shirts and loose shorts. My sister, a softball player, sprinted across baseball fields in pants and jerseys. These girls are only fooling themselves.
