Who said they don't. You don't need to stuff yourself with enourmus meals to get a surplus, that's a foolish idea made by the fitness industry. Also, If you consider the fact that resistance exercises burn way less calories than people think, here's the answer

Also, if they were constantly in surplus, then they wouldn't be lean. It's more important to have low body fat for gymnast than excess muscle.

If I gymnasticed as much as I sit around eating […] I’d have a Sooper hard body like the chaps on here… Unfortunately, I’m a Lazy, disgusting, fat body… But I’m trying, man, I’m trying, real hard?! 😢🎉❤

try once ...just eat what u love and is beneficial for you ... forgot about surplus and protein...love your training ..be best at your training.. you will be fit
