Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia Donates Windows to Charlottesville Habitat for Humanity
In a continuous effort to support the local community, Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia has generously donated and installed eleven windows for a home renovated by Greater Charlottesville Habitat for Humanity.
Located on Paton Street in Charlottesville, this home was initially built in 2006 by Greater Charlottesville Habitat for Humanity. When the original owners moved out, the organization repurchased the home and began renovations to prepare it for a new deserving family.
Impacting Homes in Our Charlottesville Community
Renewal by Andersen became involved in this project after connecting with Kelly Eplee, Director of Donor Relations at Greater Charlottesville Habitat for Humanity. Upon visiting the Paton Street home, the team quickly recognized an opportunity to make a significant impact.
Eplee praised Renewal by Andersen’s involvement, saying, “We needed to rehabilitate the home, and you made it affordable. Additionally, the new homeowner will benefit from lower power bills because of those windows.”
The window replacement was one of the final steps necessary to prepare the Paton Street property for its new owner, Victoria Hawkins, a lifelong Charlottesville resident and mother of two. Hawkins is thrilled to be able to walk to work from her new home.
“The location really spoke to me because I don’t drive. I work for UVA - the Contact Center for UVA - going on 20 years in June! It’s convenient and close for me to walk,” said Hawkins in Greater Charlottesville Habitat for Humanity’s 2023 Impact Report.
Helping Build Unity Through Habitat for Humanity Outreach
This home was originally built as part of Greater Charlottesville Habitat for Humanity’s effort to create mixed-income neighborhoods, fostering unity among community residents. Support from volunteers and donations from businesses allow the non-profit to continue these efforts.
Daniel Beau Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia’s Installation Manager, who was part of the initial site visit and conducted a technical measure for the windows, reflected on the project, saying, “It was an honor to work with Habitat and contribute to those in need in our community.”
