According to Elliotte Friedman with bonuses Kane could earn $6.5M which is absurd. IMO Habs have enough leadership with Gally, Armia, Savard & Matheson for this coming season. Beck, Kapanen, Demidov etc... won't be joining Habs until the 2025/26 season which is great timing since spots will open up with Armia, Dvorak and possibly Evans gone(plus Savard). Then there is Hage, Florian & Tuch in the loop so IMO I don't see how there will be room to sign a veteran ufa. Also Habs might still make a trade for a young top6 forward. IMO Gally provides all the leadership Habs require at forward despite playing on the 4th line.

having watched a lot of Kane at the end of the last season during the Wings' push having him has a habs for a couple of years would be amazing. I just don't think it is at all likely. If he leaves the Wings I don't see Kane going to a team that isn't a contender next year.

We should have moved Barron before any of our other D for sure. A 4th round pick doesn't seem like enough for a reliable D like Kovacevic. Especially when 2 or 3 of our D corps inevitably go down with injuries, I'm afraid we're going to regret this move.

I think the scouting in the organisation is top notch at the moment and they have made some great picks lately. Now they start to clean up the back ranks. Kovacevic to the Devils for their top 4th round pick in 2026 and qualifying offers for Xhekaj and Barron are a good start.

I think signing Kane is a great move. We get to see how close this core we have built so far to the playoffs and get a good veteran 60-70 point guy to replace Demidov maybe for 2024-25? And if it dosent work out and were still a lottery team next year. We can always flip him for some picks at the deadline. Low risk High reward. Just think hes 90% going to NYR or DET sadly.

Would love to see Montreal bring back Toffoli. He can fit in middle six, great two-way player, can play the PP and PK. Would be a great mentor for the younger guys and both Tyler and his wife loved Montreal.

no way i do 4 years but i would do 2 in a heart beat. And we have the space, it shouldn't effect anything too much. I'd say we have 6 to 8 million to spend and still be able to slafkovsky and ghule (assuming we move or let walk dvorak and armia)

Kane makes sense on a 2 yrs high aav as a stop gap in the rebuild process. I’d like to see him a line with Dach and you could always flip him for assets later on. You’ll need to overpay on the aav if you go short term but that’s not a problem for the habs.

Well Kane is gone and that's fine, didn't want him. I believe Marchessault will be the target. He will fit on the top line allowing Slavfkovski to play with Dach. I love to see Marty give Xherkaj a chance to move up and play on that line. We need size and this would give the Habs a monster line with skill.

Beck and Mesar won't be ready to start the season with the Habs. Mesar may never be ready. I agree Anderson and Dvo need to go. But Armia has 1 year left...no rush to throw him away. Guhle has the character to be leader and a impact Dman. If we can get him long term on a low dollar salary, do it.
