Because Tokyo is a bigger region, they get 3 representatives for nationals, Itachiyama got first the first spot, Fukurodani second and Nekoma just played the 3rd/4th match for the last spot.
@TortoisesBL2 жыл бұрын
They actually only get two spots normally. But since the spring tournament is hosted in tokyo this year, they give them an extra slot, had it been in another region they would have been given the extra slot

A Summary of why are Nekoma going to Nationals: Tokyo too big, Given 2 seed for nationals. Itachiyama and Fukurodani won Semifinals, both team gets a seed to nationals regardless of who would win the finals. Tokyo's gonna host this year's spring tournament so they were given an additional seed. The two semifinalists Nekoma and Nohebi would fight to get the 3rd seed.

Gotta respect Nohebi lmao because really i don't think it's cheating but just using conniving tactics.
@creativeartivity2 жыл бұрын
If they paid off the refs then it'd be cheating but yeah this isn't cheating. It's just underhanded tactics, which to be fair, happens in sports very regularly.

I think that part of the issue is that they adapted 16 chapters into 2 OVAs, which means that they had to cut a considerable amount of material (especially material that adds to the game experience).

This was Tokyo's finals, so if it was Karasuno's prefecture it'd be like if Shiratorizawa, Aoba Johsai, Karasuno and Date Tech played a round robin where the team that lost two games was out and the rest went to Nationals. Itachiyama and Fukurodani are regular National attendees, and the "venue" slot is because Nationals is being held in Tokyo.

It may be underhanded, but I can't call what Nohebi does "cheating". Hitting people in the face is relatively normal in volleyball, and obscuring the view of the ref to get a point is just gamesmanship, akin to selling a foul in basketball or pulling back a checked swing in baseball. They're trying to win
@SJ-2102 жыл бұрын
Karasuno and Nekoma are in dfferent Prefectures, aka cities. So they each have their own tournament. The Miyagi prefecture where Karasuno is from is really small so they can only have one team go to Nationals. The Tokyo prefecture however, is massive, so they can have two teams go through, but since Tokyo is hosting Nationals this year, they also get like an extra home team spot, called the Venue Representative. I hope that helps so ya’ll can fully understand what’s going on when you start Season 4👌🏽

I think the reason why these matches weren’t as crazy as Karasuno’s is because their play style is omnivorous, they use a combination of many different team’s play styles in order to win also out of the teams we saw play, Bokuto is the only “star” player and while he is top 5 he’s no Ushiwaka, it would be something amazing if Karasuno were to go up against a team just like themselves, they’d probably be the ultimate challengers

not only does this ova highlight yaku's abilities as a great libero (probably one of the best in the series next to ofc noya and an upcoming teams libero-- i wont say for spoilers sake), but it explains nekoma's ability to 'connect'. hence that being their motto. it's really incredible how seamless their defense becomes and how important their formations are. also, i glad some of you guys kind of understood nohebi. what they did was shady, but it technically wasn't cheating. other comments do explain it so I probably don't have to. they are genuinely a good team, you wouldn't be able to kake it this far while cheating.
@haydenmcturk23292 жыл бұрын
So this is what happens while Karasuno is playing against Shitorizawa or slightly after, this is to decide who makes it from Tokyo because Tokyo is such a big region 3 of their teams qualify so the winner the second-place team and then the winner between the two third-place teams which is Nekoma and Nohebi.

A little context for what is going on in the OVA’s: So 4 teams made it to the semi finals for the Tokyo Prefecture. 3 teams can go to Nationals. So even though Nekoma lost to Fukurodani, they can still win the consolation match and go through. That’s why it’s kind of funny when Kuroo and Daisho say “See you in the Finals!” to each other, but then they both end up in the consolation match barely still having a chance to make Nationals😂. Hope that helped🙏🏽

So in japan the inter high is competed in by the best team/teams of each of the prefectures, so larger populated prefectures have more teams in nationals than smaller prefectures, nekoma is in the Tokyo prefecture so them and 2 other teams make nationals where karasuno is in a smaller prefecture and only one team makes it.

about the blocking the refs view and calling the ball out- i played vball all through high school, this is a time honored classic move lmfao. Sure its frustrating af but only if you arent good at it ;) there was def a few times ive done that exact maneuver of flinging yourself between the ball and the ref when my coach and teammates noticed the refs weren't being too strict with their calls and relying on player input.

FUN HAIKYUU!! FACT !! Even though Nekoma is represented as cats (猫 Neko), the kanji in its name (音駒 Nekoma) are unrelated to the animal. Their actual meaning, "sound of [moving] a shogi piece," may be a reference to their play style of analysis and strategy, that is why the longer you play them the harder it is to score ( waiting for the epic ( not gonna spoil) match to be animated for them go deeper into nekoma) And yes they are the cats, bcs they are flexible, they adapt to whoever they play against, they are a very annoying team to play against .

I might not me a volleyball specialist so correct me if I'm wrong BUT I think the Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa match seemed more dynamic and epic not only because they had more episodes to develop the game, but also due to completely different playing styles, mainly talking about Karasuno and Nekoma. Karasuno is highly offensive team, their whole strategy is to do intricate and super fast plays to get the most points they can. Their defense sometimes lacks because of this, especially near the end of matches when the players get tired. They do crazy stuff to receive the ball which then leads to more running around, especially the setter aka Kageyama. Meanwhile Nekoma is a highly defensive team, their main principal is to perfectly receive the ball and pass it to the setter aka Kenma. Not only they have an exceptional libero Yaku (he actually IS better than Nishi, he's more experienced being a 3rd year and our Rolling thunder boy admires him) but each team member has a good receiving skills (maybe beside Lev who is still learning) hence there is less running on court involved. Notice how less Kenma moves around compared to Kageyama. He just doesn't really need to (and also hates to do it but that's different matter LOL).

Isn't it itachiyama has the number 1 ace in Japan? Just what bokuto said? Or I'm wrong? If does I think the last one who spike the ball is the number 1 ace of all deflecting 3 blockers

One of the reasons for that was that Seasons 1-3 were made basicaly back to back like they were just one long show. Due to the 4 year break before Season,a lot of the staff ended up going to different shows around the time Season 4 started production,like directors and animators.

ehhh I think by definition its still cheating because they try to "bend"/find loopholes in the rules to gain those unfair advantages. it even goes against their own motto which made me give em the side eye. plus, just because everyone does it in many sports doesn't make it right. nonetheless, I liked watching the OVA too and seeing more of Nekoma~
