It’s apparent from his acting. He reminds me a bit of Weird Al’s acting, when he’s acting serious. It’s not really acting, it’s wearing one’s emotions on their sleeve. And some may call it “bad acting”, but many people aren’t the most subtle in every situation. Bruce represents the kind of plain-honesty a lot of us wish we could get away with.

Your remark is very interesting. In fact, the voice of actors in the 50s and 60s was often recorded on tape using microphones that had poor high-frequency response compared to modern microphones (which had its advantages in terms of wind protection, for example, and there was no need to record high frequencies back then, since there was no "hi-fi" back then). Tape recording produced distortion that made the voice coarser and slightly unnatural. Bruce's voice always seems to sound in such a way that no matter what microphone he speaks through, he sounds with a lack of high frequencies, except if he does not speak into a very close standing microphone. From my vocal lessons, as I understand it, Bruce should have been able to speak exactly the same and clearly even if he had not a single teeth, because this is the only way I see the possibility of cutting high frequencies from my voice without using additional processing or special equipment. It is possible that Bruce trained to speak, as ancient orators taught this - with stones behind his cheeks. Plus, Bruce has a very good air supply, his voice always sounds the same in volume, and this is not only in films, but also in interviews. Perhaps it also reminds us of the sound of actors from 50s and 60s. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that Bruce Campbell is super-high skilled at his voicing. I don't believe that there is a chance just to randomly say so many phrases that became so well quoted classic, like "Groovy", "I'm a man with a gun", "Give me some sugar, baby" etc without A LOT of practicing. Of course, I'm exaggerating that he doesn't use his teeth at all. The teeth are what give the amplification, definition and high frequencies. In the same phrase, we can hear that only certain sounds from Bruce sound bright, and the rest of the phrase can sound like actors from the 50s and 60s and he just able to keep it clear and definitive.

Bruce has always been one of my very, VERY favorites. I think my most favorite role was likely Sam Axe on Burn Notice. And of all the shows that got cancelled too soon over the years (with the possible exception of Firefly) none bugged me as much as losing The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. That was just SO MUCH fun, and it was entirely due to Campbell (though the young lady was fantastic to look at too).

I think the reason why Bruce is so well liked is he appeals to us, the ordinary "average Joes" of America. He's not some prestigious Hollyweird uppity arrogant asshole Julliard acting school-type; he's just an everyday guy like the rest of us trying to make it in the world. How he talks to and handles the villains in movies is most likely how we would do as well if we were ever confronted......with no nonsense talk, a quick wit, a sawed off double-barrel shotgun and a chainsaw!!
