Wearing my hair in two Dutch braids often has helped cut back on heat styling. I rarely heat at all now.

@@suesmith3744 you'd be surprised I have thick wavy/curly hair and my hair breaks and I don't even do a single thing to it. I've gotten to a point that I've tried not washing it for over 2 weeks and it still has tons of breakage. I don't use heating tools, so no blow drying now curling, nothing. I get regular trims, I'm careful with my hair and I still can't get it to grow past my shoulders. People talk as if curly thick hair is so amazing, yah it's really not. It's been proven to be more damaging than any other hair type, cause of the shape of the hair follicle.

Me too. I’ve realized that straight, fine hair is best kept at the shoulders or above. Anywhere past that and you going to get knots and tangles, which in turn leads to tons of breakage. I care a lot about my hair and go to great lengths to get it healthy but it just isn’t enough after a certain point.
@gummy58623 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard that silicones can help fine straight hair by giving it more slip, leading to lesser change of breakage. I have fine straight-ish hair (it’s on the wavier side) and have been using a silicone heavy shampoo and conditioner for years. At this very moment I’ve been using a different conditioner without silicones for a couple weeks and I’m very suddenly noticing a bunch of wispies around my hairline… I’m not sure if it’s because of the silicone-free conditioner.

I have stopped using heat. Half my hair was riddled in white dots (white dots up a strand that give a sharp edge to the hair, you can pull them off but if you leave them alone they can hang on for quite some time). Nonetheless it is damaged. I had to cut out half the length and went from hip to bra strap in one fell swoop. Beware of white dots up your strands due to heat damage. I used heat protectant!!! I love a "lived-in blonde" with smudged, blended roots, because it allows you to stretch out the amount of times you need to use bleach on your hair. I always use the Ion version of Olaplex from Sally's whenever I lighten or color, and I coat the length and ends in coconut oil about an hour before to protect them further. I found that stretching my washes dries out my ends, so I put a drop of coconut oil on the ends only very very lightly at night. In the morning my hair absorbed it and it's soft and shiny, not greasy. Also, I avoid volume shampoos and drying styling products like hairspray. Instead, I use leave-in conditioners to style my hair without using heat. For example, I'll use leave-in conditioner on dry second-day hair and then roll in into large foam rollers or put it in a bun at night and in the morning I have long lasting waves or curls and soft shiny hair that doesn't break easily in spite of being bleached blonde. I love your hair videos by the way.

Putting your hair up while wet/damp was breaking my hair like crazy. 100% that was my problem, and I denied it for a long time because it was just too convenient to put my hair up. Since I've stopped, it has become much better. Also another rule to ALWAYS follow is to have a concentrator nozzle on your hair dryer so that your hair has no way of making contact with the metal part on the hair dryer that heats up, which would totally just burn your hair off. I don't blow dry my hair, but I've heard this is still a pretty common mistake, and a bad one.

It makes me so sad that half the length of my hair broke off and feels terrible :( I used to have waist length hair and now its barely at my shoulder blades. I think I've watched every video about fixing bleached hair - I'm not using any heat on my hair, not bleaching it ever again, and I'm doing hair oil treatments, masks, and all the moisturizing products I can find in hopes that I can save the rest of my hair! Hi Jess! I am a licensed hairstylist here and these tips are awesome!! I know the bleach blonde struggles!! Also, I recommend looking into trying out Redken's pH Bonder treatment- it's like Olaplex, but I find I've been getting better results with it. I have tried Olaplex on myself before and ehh it was okay; I'd still get breakage, but using pH Bonder I notice a difference. I work at a Redken salon so I only use their line of bleach so I'm not sure how it would work with other brands, but I highly recommend a bond protector!!

Protein treatments should NOT be used weekly. It cause the opposite effect. Every 3 weeks will be more appropriate. Meanwhile leave moisturizer on the hair overnight covered with a plastic cap and then use a bandana to hold it in place. It works wonders on my dry, colored, thin and prone to breakage hair. It feels sooo soft afterwards! Ahh and I quit on the flat Iron because of all the damage. My hair is shinier, feels stronger and manageable.

I experienced breakage from a shampoo brush to stimulate the scalp. This happened a few times and I stopped. Those brushes aren’t designed for chemically treated hair. In fact, chemically treated hair needs to be traded gently when combing. I do not recommend a shampoo brush whatsoever. I’ve had my fair share of Che,mical services and never had breakage. Those brushes will kill processed hair.

That Redken range is full of protein. Too much protein is actually bad for your hair and causes breakage! I found that out the hard way., well, my hairdresser told me to keep using the brands but not their repair ranges with protein. As soon as I stopped using products with protein and I use Kerastase and Redken, my hair stopped snapping. The turnaround was so fast. If you are going to use protein product it should be once a week depends on hair type.
@allierb85916 жыл бұрын
Gem Tiger hi which ones in the range do you use? I find most products these days contain some form of protein
@gemtiger3846 жыл бұрын
Allie RB Agree but apparently too much is damaging and some people like myself can have further damage from larger amounts. I can only go off what happened to me and it was such 2 dramatic changes. I was using the Kerastase Resistance range which is such a beautiful range, I’d still use the treatment once a week only and Redken Extreme range again great products, both clearly labelled and if you do the research it does tell you about the protein, it’s just not for some hair types and you have to be careful. I was using them as a hairdresser had over processed my hair so the repair products were recommended. My hair was literally coming out and breaking off by the hand full and I couldn’t figure it out as I was doing everything I could including not cutting or colouring my hair, nothing just left it alone to heal after the stupid girl over procesed it. I ended up going else where and they suggest stop using those products as they have massive amounts of protein and could be causing the breakage and further damage. They were right. I now use Kerastase Discipline and Nutritive ranges. Game changer. But its hair type, some ppl like myself are protein sensitive so as much as protein in some products might be good, its also hell on my hair. I have to say though when I first bought the Resistance range and went to repurchase it a couple of staff in the salon did question why I was switched to it, they did say there was too much protein for my hair thpe and it won’t tolerate it. I have fine hair and used to have alot of it but at the time I was only listening to who did the cut and colour. Anyway learned my lesson when your hairdresser disappears and another takes over, run!! My hair is well on its way to growing like a weed again. Never going back to that salon lol Oh and get on to the Ordinarys Argan Oil! I put about 6 drops a day through my hair. Non greasy but I swear it has helped

No matter what I do my hair breaks I have thick wavy/curly hair. The last time I dyed it, it was over 6 or 7 months ago. All the pieces that were dead I chopped them off, so I could start off new. I cut atleast one inch or so off my hair every 1-2 months. I don't wash it every day, I wash it every other day. And the shampoo I use does not have extreamly harsh chemicals in it, we have our own well but the water comes from the rain, cause we are the only ones at my house that uses the well so the water is purified. I don't use heat or hair spray or even blow dry it, pat dry my hair a little just to make sure my hair is not dripping wet but I never rub. I put it up at night and I don't always keep it in a pony tail. After I shower I don't comb it when it's wet, and when I do comb it I comb it from the bottom up with a comb not a brush and sometimes I'll use my wet brush on it when it's dry. I'm careful with my hair, but at the end of the day it still no matter what I do it is dieing. All I want is just to have long hair...

I seriously don't understand what's wrong :( I only use high end hair care brands like the best reviewed and expensive stuff (mostly Kérastase). I always use a good shampoo, conditioner, mask, heat protector, oil and leave in cream every time I wash it (2-3 times a week) so I don't understand what I do wrong. It has gotten softer and less damaged because of my good hair care routine but the breakage still remains and that was the main problem from the beginning! I never tie my hair up or style it. All I do is dry it to like 50% with a hair dryer (low heat) because it's so cold where I live so I can't air dry it. My diet has always been good, I eat healthy and also take vitamins and drink lots of water. I went to the hospital once but they just said that I'm healthy and everything's good so I really don't know what to do now. It's my biggest insecurity and I have lots of them so this one is really serious... I honestly don't know what to do it's making me so depressed can someone help me :(

Switch to a silk pillow case. Cotton pillow cases cause breakage.

i just experienced some hair breakage due to bleaching process. i have a question tho, in your case, is your hair breakage also due to bleaching process? if so, will the hair breaks continuously everytime you wash or blow dry your hair, or it just happened right after you get your bleach done?
@somegirljesskent6 жыл бұрын
Venska Rafiola for me I think the bleaching made my hair brittle and weak, and then the repetitive blow drying and brushing and stuff made it break off easily. But no I didn’t have immediate breakage right after bleaching. So yeah I mean once the hair is broken, if you have split ends then it will keep splitting and breaking off until you cut off the damage
@julieankhan.28015 жыл бұрын
If they overlap the bleach= breaks off right there. Dont let them run the color thru the ends to "refresh it" hair breakage 30% each time.

Great video as always! I think bleaching it rather than high-lifting with a hair dye it has a lot to do with it. You should also try and replace Keratin at least 1 a week

Hey lovely what do you use in your hair to get it that colour? I really like how light it is it looks white beige blonde? @somegirljess
@somegirljesskent6 жыл бұрын
April Lane I’ve been going to a salon for quite some time now! She lightens it to a level 10 (but I have some level 9 and 8 in there too since I have foils and not solid colour), and then she uses redken shades eq colour in usually 9gi. But sometimes we switch it up to just 9G if I want a brighter golden blonde, or sometimes 9b

Oh I thought it looked a ashy beige type blonde and wasn’t sure if you was still doing it. Thank you for getting back to me to let me know x

@qibocreature13553 жыл бұрын
Something that helped me is a nice smelling de tangle spray and then I comb my hair ( never brush) and take my time with it and I usually only do it once or twice a day

I’ve been using the Tresemme primer leave in conditioner for months now. Initially it really helped with breakage but recently my hair has got sooo dry, I guess because of the proteins in it. I definitely need a leave in product though otherwise I can’t get a comb through it..

I have an underdye and I love it, I’ve had it for 6 months and I have been retouching it once a month, professionally. The issue is that bleach has cause some of my hair to break and when I put my hair up in a ponytail, you could see the short hair that has broken off because of the damage. Like I said, I love the style and I don’t want to stop bleaching it. What do I do to prevent more hair at the nape of my neck from breaking?
