This was a very helpful video, and based on now understanding the root problem of back parts and cowlicks in general, that the hair is leaning in the opposite direction we want it to, I experimented with training my hair to lean the way I want when I sleep. At night, I find the back part cowlick and put it into the split it is comfortable in. Then I take the right half and pull it left, and the left half and pull it right, and create two pig tails that literally tightly pull the hair in the direction I want it to go. The next morning I did not have a problem with the cowlick split or back part. I think if I keep doing this each night, it will be like braces or retainers on the teeth, it will keep it trained to fall right. I could "make it" go back into the split again, but it was much easier to get it to cooperate. To keep it in its new corrected position, I added some Aveda dry shampoo powder and really rubbed that in and then ran my brush left and right across the split for a bit of a back combing effect, and then gave it a spritz with hair spray. Finally I feel confident that my hair is not going to revert back into a back split again during the day!

This works great! I’ve always had this problem plus thin, fine baby hair and came across a very simple method recently that works amazingly well. Style your hair the way you usually do and take your hair brush and place it at the top of where your hair begins splitting and holding your brush horizontally, gently yet firmly move your brush back and forth without lifting the brush. This tangles the hair at the root and keeps it from separating! Spray a lite coat of hair spray and you are good to go!

Hi, I have a cowlick in my bangs, I am also a professional hairstylist. When styling your bangs, first make sure that they are completely saturated (wet) Then using a paddle or vent brush flat wrap your bangs down towards your face. After they are completely dry, let them cool. Then proceed to styling them as you like. For side bangs you can flat wrap directionally, however still let them dry 100% before adding curl or bevel.
