I, too, am a, retired, but still licensed cosmetologist and have actually gone through peri and premature menopause at 42. I am now 45. Unfortunately, during perimeno, you are losing your estrogen as a precursor of menopause (which is permanent estrogen deficiency and ultimately loss). So because this is hormonal, the only real fix is to balance your hormones with estrogen and progesterone levels (birth control in your case). They also have herbal therapies, but that's another rabbit hole. Please seek out a gynecologist who is WILLING to empathize and assist you accordingly. Not all of them are, sadly. Best wishes!
