Other than be annoying, I don't think these republicans accomplished much. @paddyseamair6336 Indeed, there could have been a time, if WW1 had worked out all right for the Germans, when the then Stuart pretender, Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria, might have seen the opportunity to sieze the throne! Prince Rupprecht was one of the better generals in the German army in WW1. In fact, I understand that the Stuart pretenders had long given up the idea of returning. But if Sophie were in a position to revive the claim, we could get our hands on all that loot hidden away in Lichtenstein, and I could have my Winter Fuel Allowance restored...

I believe it's about the succession issue from 300 years ago. Ironically, Diana Spencer included the DNA of the other guy so her sons will be "rightful kings." I'm an American and don't know all the details but a Brit should be able to explain it properly. Let's face it, Queen Elizabeth is a hard act to follow.
