Well no one ever said the art direction for the sequels were bad. It was the writers who made the sequels unwatchable. The artists did their best to make up for the bad writing and i gotta respect that.

One of the things that I did actually appreciate about the new trilogy was that we actually got to see more of the inside of these behemoth ships. Almost everything else was crap but they really went above and beyond with attention to detail about the internal layouts. They are very cool ships, even by normal SW standards.

One of these could take out half of the Endor fleet, and then the First Order had a lot of these? Plus Starkiller base? It all made no sense.

@@wilsoch Yep that's all true, I'm talking purely aesthetics here though. I like everything they did except the bomber and the pizza slice, both of which were designed specifically for that particular battle scene. The Xyston was fine except it was just a star destroyer with a cannon strapped to it, it was very lazy compared to everything else. This however is one of my favorite designed ships in all of star wars.

For me, these should have been the Super Star Destroyers of the Sequels, having them supported by smaller Venator/Acclamator like craft. That would fit better with George's idea for Stormtrooper holdouts, where they could perform quick and precise guerrilla like assaults.

As iconic as the Imperial I & II class star destroyers are, as someone with a minor in engineering there are a few flaws I just can't quite get behind. The Resurgent fixes most of the issues I have, and it's more aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. I can trash on the sequels' story and characters all day, but I can't deny the art department did a banger job.

It's scary to think what would have happened if the Empire had Resurgent Class Star Destroyers instead of the Imperial 1 and Imperial 2 Class Star Destroyers because if they did they would have slaughtered the Rebel fleets at the battles of Scariff,Endor and Jakku.

Probably not Endor. Palpatine purposefully held his fleet back to let the Death Star do the pickings, because he's sadistic and wanted Luke to watch the Rebels die slowly. The Star Destroyers were purely there to prevent the Rebels from escaping.

Undoubtedly the best Star Destroyer out of the entire (canon) series. I would say that a single Resurgent Star Destroyer is worth three Imperial-II Star Destroyers, completely outclassing its imperial predecessor and I'm not even talking about the capital ships from the Clone Wars. Only the Xyston-class Star Destroyer could easily overpower its First Order counterpart thanks to its axial superlaser.

Meh. I prefer a Vengeance-class Star Dreadnought. Same length and armament as an Executor, only flatter and a far less exposed bridge and the deflector shield generators are inside the hull. The only thing I liked about the newer movies is that the TIE Fighters got much needed upgrades.

I just have a problem with the fighters, they indicate 2 squadrons, but if you look at the csos section, you can see 40 fighters on one side of one side hangar, which would be 80 in one + the other satran 160, but the ship still has two lower hangars and on the way, I would guess 200 +100 spesila forces

Man I love the large ships in starwars, but it really is starting to get comical. The executor was 19 kilometers. Thst is literally insane. That's like the size of NYC. Say what you will about the Empire, but when it comes to their starships/space stations, they tend to learn their lessons. Death Star 2, for instance, recharged its superlaser more quickly than the first and could hit smaller targets like capital ships, as well as having millions of millimeter-thick apertures to vent exhaust, removing the first station’s vulnerability.

There's always a point when a weapon system becomes too big to be tactically sound. For instance, if a ship is so big that it can only bring a small fraction of its overall defense systems to bear on an attacker, while the attacker can bring all its offensive systems to bear on a part of the huge vessel. You do not need to destroy such a huge vehicle, just disable it enough to practically mission-killed. These mega-huge capital ships are stupid. But I can see how they can easily impress the feeble-minded.
