The reason why Jamie Lee Curtis died in the beginning was because she was contractually obligated to be in this film under the condition that they kill her off right away so she didn't have to make anymore shit sequels. She thought H20 ended brilliantly but didn't see in the contract that Michael can never be killed off ,(or is not allowed to be anyway). She didn't realize that when she did him away with the axe but then they announced this film and she was kind of like no way am I doing these movies until I die. That is until years later when the 2018 script came along and it was so smartly written she had to be in it.😮

@@jdssurf IIRC she said she thought she was absolutely done with this franchise BUT then an actor (sorry can't remember who) who was I believe her Godson, called her and begged her to read the script. He was a friend of the writer and director and had read it and they asked him to approach her as family because they knew she wouldn't even open the door to them if they approached her directly. She said because he was family she would read it, but did not hold out much hope she'd consider doing it. She read it, (Halloween 2018) loved it and agreed to do it. It really IS the best one since the original in my opinion. I can see how she could be coaxed into doing it after saying never again. It also gave her somewhere to stretch as an actor because the idea of PTSD after what happened in the original and how that can become generational trauma was something deeper to explore than most slashers get to do.

Busta Rhymes’ Freddie Harris is the third best character in the franchise simply cuz he told Michael to “get the F outta dodge” and he did it. I don’t care what people say that scene is one of the best ever in this franchise.

I like some of what they tried to do in this movie... but they certainly came up short! There is 1 thing I LOVE about this movie... it stopped the sequels and eventually gave birth to Halloween 2018.. which is AMAZING!!

Halloween Resurrection was a Flop! Had same reaction when Laurie was killed off in beginning. Jumping to 2018 will be a great timeline to sync up with. 2018 Halloween is supposed to be the sequel to the 1978 original (ie forget everything else) so looking forward to your reaction to the latest Blumhouse Trilogy.

This movie made me angry. The closure we got in H2O where Lourie ends Michael was so satisfying and for them to then kill her off and have him kicked by Busta Rhymes was just aweful. This made the whole Thorne cult thing look like Shakespeare.

The way Michael allegedly switched with the security guard was probably the lamest explanation for how someone faked thier death anybody has had the nerve to put on film. You know in the movie Misery when Kathie Bates goes on a rant about old serial movies where the hero is going off a cliff and then the next part they "cheat" by showing the hero had jumped out of the car before it went over the cliff? And she has a meltdown screaming "what are you retards? That's not what happened" If she'd seen these two movies back to back she would have burned down the theater.

H20 was supposed to be the final chapter, NOT resurrection. Jamie found out that it was in the contract that Michael couldn't die. So she and the writer Kevin Williamson decided that they would create an ending where it would seem obvious to anyone, including Laurie, that he was dead if they wanted to believe that was the end. The only reason she did the movie resurrection was contractual obligation. Fans of Laurie strode know she deserved better than the ending she got.

Jamie Lee Curtis did not want to do a follow up to H20 but was contractually obligated. So she agreed only if they would kill off Laurie at the beginning. Only recently with the 2018 timeline was she wanting to really continue and invest in Laurie’s story again. This one is terrible. Being a Halloween fan means knowing this one sucks and owning it for the sake of owning the entire franchise….but never watching it and pretending it doesn’t exist. Halloween (2018) is definitely a way better requel.

RESSURECTION was an unnecessary, total, and complete shit show! So much to unpack--at the time, H20 sufficed and there was no need at all for it to be made. Them killing Laurie Strode within the first 10 minutes was lazy to say the least. The best parts of it was seeing Busta and Tyra and even that sucked more because Tyra’s death was off screen🤦🏾‍♂️I don’t even know if “forced” can be used to describe this one.
