I am desperate for help. I got this from amazon today. But I am not able to start using it because of this reason and can you please help me with this: What should I do before using this grill for the FIRST time before starting use it... like grilling hamburgers. This is why I am afraid of starting to use it. I think I had reason a purchaser's review on amazon saying that she had forgotten to "preheat it first and wiping it with grease first" before using it for the first time. I cannot find that review there and I don't remember what she had said exactly. It was about cleaning/making it ready for the use. So, is there anything that I need to do before I start using this grill for the first time? Can I just wash those washable parts and then start using it. Should I put some oil before putting my hamburgers to grill. What kind of oil? I have regular canola oil and sunflower oil at home. Thank you!

Which grill do you prefer? This Hamilton Beach Searing grill or the Cuisinart grill and panini griddler?

Just ordered this Hamilton but have the Cuisinart one. Great for sandwiches but high heat grilling is a no no did it once grease all over big cleanup but the burger was actually good but not worth the labor to clean up .

Does the drip tray get hot at all? I know a person selling their grill but tray was cracked so she glued it, just wondering if tray gets hot or if glue would melt

I do love this grill for steak, chicken, and veg kabobs! Do not immerse grill plate in water! Drip tray catch's all juices well and easy to clean. Grill plate is harder to clean after meat cooks and sears.

Steaks and hamburgers taste great! The only issue is it's a pain to get clean. My wife doesn't like using pan because of all the smoke it gives off.

This unit works surprisingly well. I prefer it over the two sided units because it chargrills better and doesnt steam meat at all, more like a grill should. And it cleans easier. Even if left overnite it cleans easy, two sided grills dont compare. I am a true boxing fan and love that guy but this is superior in finished result, not cooking speed though. i have found that two sided grills can cook so fast that u have to stop it early because it keeps cooking cuz the heat is two sided. and i have an issue pulling food off prematurely.
