Karen I love hearing what scares people in different stages of sewing. To hear you shy away from welt pockets but you've made more jackets than most seasoned sewist. Your work is incredible, and we are never finished learning.

Karon, I love the pride you take in your work and fulfilling your vision for your projects. It shows! I feel you on the muslins. I'm trying to make myself do the jacket lining first so it can serve as the muslin, but it can also be used to finish the jacket. I still don't like muslins, but I'm trying to do better. 😊
@cookeka9 ай бұрын
Thank you so much. Yes, muslins can be tedious if not yet adjusted to the process. I promise to improve as a personal commitment, so let's see how that works😀 All the best with your efforts.

So nice to see the improvement over time, it's encouraging. Lately I have been doing more muslins because I would rather do a quick test and cut the good fabric with confidence than put a lot of effort into something that might not fit well. But yes, they do take time. That's why it's so nice to repeat patterns. I need to do more of that. But I am still figuring out what size works for me in Big4 patterns! Do you do any adjustments to the jacket patterns? I am petite, so I usually need to shorten the bodice a bit.
@cookeka9 ай бұрын
I definitely can relate and understand. I often need to shorten the sleeve, and I have been told I need to adjust the shoulders. Depending on the style, a sway back adjustment is needed. Most of us need some alterations, and it is a bit time-consuming. I also need to work on more indi patterns and am now trying the Ginger jeans in camo. Thanks for sharing.

Your Talbots jacket? In one sleeve, you will find an escape hatch, where most jackets are turned out, from there, you can have access to look at that under collar area. I’m curious, too, and haven’t seen any jacket with that piece beneath the under collar, but you should be able to find an under collar that is different from the outer or upper collar. Wardrobe by Me is a company that does that even in the shirts. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for showing all this!

Thank you for sharing the information. I am not confident to undo my Talbot blazer to discover just yet. I will explore that under collar some more. Thanks for watching and sharing. I appreciate it.

Karon, all of your makes are incredible! Even your jacket you said you sewed when you first started sewing looked great,,, on the outside. But I totally understand, we want the inside of the garments to look neatly sewn too. But don’t underestimate yourself. You do wonderful work on everything! I need to sew something but I’m trying to finish up some kitchen things(potholders and tea towels) for my Fla daughter’s new kitchen. Take care, Nancy, from Indiana

Karon, I am like you and like to make my garments look beautiful inside and out. I love that you push yourself to do more., and your work is beautiful ! The Jasika Blazer pattern from Closet Core is my favorite and it has the collar similar to your Talbot's jacket. I am thinking about trying the Saler jacket pattern from Pauline Alice. Thank you for sharing your makes!

Hi Katie, you for the heads up with the similar collar that can be found on Jasika Blazer. I am so excited to now try it. I had planned to do it before but chickened out. I am also excited about the Saler Jacket, and at €8 that's a great price. Thank you so much!!!

Karen, when I do muslins I only create the outer shell of something. I don't make the entire garment out of muslin. Just the front and back bodice, and shoulder, if it has a collar I may do that too because necklines can be weird for me but usually that's all you need to do to see if its going to work/fit well or practice a technique. also, you don't need to interface muslins, but maybe that's my cheat. I am a 4th year sewist. BTW your makes ARE AMAZING to not have done any muslins.

Hello Lori, thank you so much. Please give it a try, it's okay to be nervous. Start with a small project and work your way up to others. I was nervous about almost every project until I got comfortable, which only happened after doing a few.

Karon, you are hard on yourself. The red jacket you are not in love with, just put pockets and wear it with attitude! I have a little comment: Your dress is beautiful. I have learn to put the button at the level of the breast this way it does not open. You could lower the first button a little to show more of your skin (3 or 4 cm). I LOVE your videos, Grazie

Hi Sylvie, I appreciate you. Thank you for that tip. I will definitely adjust that button 😀 I love the dress too. It's vibrant colors are pure sunshine.
