I don't know the logistics involved, but I would download and install your app if one existed. Thank you for the content.

Great explanation, Coach! One question for you : if I'm pretty new to Weightlifting (and therefore still developing my hook grip), when do I "decide" to use straps? Specifically, if I can do 2-3 reps from a hang position "bare" BUT I lose the grip a bit each successive rep, would YOU have a lifter continue WITHOUT straps (in order to improve hook)? Or, is it more important to work on positions / technique and USE the straps (thus removing the weak link temporarily to concentrate on form)? I ask this coz I see a lot of IG weightlifters using straps for (heavy) snatch singles, and I wonder is it because the straps have become a "crutch" - and it allows them to use more weight? (or possibly just sore hands and / or ripped calluses?) Or, am I being too pedantic about the entire strap issue? (even this video shows Laura and Nadiya using straps but not Lily, for example)

I prefer lifters to use straps as little as possible with snatches - definitely no good reason to use for singles from the floor. That's the perfect formula for becoming reliant on them and not being able to snatch as much without them. If you don't compete, I suppose it doesn't matter, and some lifters never have an issue with it - but by the time you find out you do, it's a lot of time/work to get that grip back. So as a new lifter - grip strength and stamina is very important to develop. Learn how to lower the bar better to be less taxing on hands. Use straps if you absolutely have to (and you probably don't). See lowering video linked in caption, and read this on strap use - www.catalystathletics.com/article/2262/Weightlifting-Straps-When-Why-to-Use-Them/

Hi, I keep internally rotating my left shoulder to the point it hurts unintentionally on my snatch overhead position even with just the bar. Anyway to stop doing this? and why is it just my left shoulder.

Try practicing with bands. Place a band under your feet and hold your hand in a clean position while holding the band. Extend the band to your snatch lockout.
